I recommend the easy way :-)

Getting to KD is a pain in the neck if you don't choose to drive a car. The town is situated by, what I call, a sub-minor road, and you can't get there by train.

I suggest you take a train to Pulawy (120km south-east of Warsaw, about 1h30min ride), and then simply take a taxi at the train station. This convenience will cost you 40 zl ($10) but at least you won't waste time waiting for public transport. You'll get to KD in just 15 minutes, whereas public transport goes every 30-50 minutes, depending on the time of day, so you'd waste a lot of time.

The distance between Pulawy and Kazimierz Dolny is just 15km (9m).

If you value money, not time...

You still need to get to Pulawy first , probably by train (or bus), and then you can take public transportation bus line.

From Pulawy PKP train station (PKP = national railway) take bus line #12 , but be prepared to have to wait for it 30-50 minutes, depending on the time of day (the buses go more frequently in rush hours).

The same city bus #12 goes also from the Pulawy PKS bus station (PKS = national bus transportation), if you intend to get to Pulawy by bus.

The city bus #12 schedule can be found here... only it is in Polish :-(

    If you're driving a car...

If you intend to drive to KD, head towards Pulawy (120 km/9m south-east of Warsaw, or 50km/32m north-west of Lublin), and then look for the minor route #824 that goes straight south of Pulawy.

From route #824 choose one of the 'sub-minor' country roads and you're there.

Kazimierz Dolny is about 15km (9m) south of Pulawy.

Kazimierz is not large itself but the distances between places of interest in and around town may seem discouraging. Anyway I recommend that you spend your quality time in Kazimierz walking. People from all over the world come here for a walk (yes!) so why don't you do :)

As I said above, Kazimierz is relatively small but longer distances can be covered during your walks to the Quarries or to other villages around Kazimierz.

    Car - Parking Lots

    by gale.blog.pl Written May 1, 2006

You can easily get to Kazimierz by car. Before entering the town you'll be able to find a suitable parking lot. The prices are not high and it's better to leave your car out of town instead of driving it down the tiny streets of Kazimierz and annoying walking tourists (and locals).

    Small Buses

    by gale.blog.pl Updated Dec 11, 2005

Mini buses run to Kazimierz very often from Warsaw, Pulawy, Lublin and other cities. They're a reliable, inexpensive and fast means of transport. Private carriers who support those mini bus lines do their best to earn as much as possible so seats are packed extremely close one to another.
