Situated approximately 5 kms for Kety, next to the villages of Porabka and Miedzybrodzie, it's one of the most popular local tourist attractions. It is 761metres high and you can access it quite easily on foot or by a new-built railway. Being on the top of it, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the local lakes, villages and Beskidy mountains.Paragliding is the most popular activity, as there is usually quite windy on the top. Recently a nice ski-route was also built.
One more special thing: there is a hydroelectric power plant inside the mountain. It uses water of Sola river which is pumped up to the water reservoir on the top of Zar. When the water is sent back, the energy is generated. It's the second largest power plant of such type in Poland.
It was first designed in 14th century, but it was rebuilt several times. Now you can see some buildings from 18th-19th century with some features of late baroque and classicism.
Nowadays it's a nice shopping area and the place where the life concentrates.
We have a mountain where cars go up even if you stop the engine. It s called Zar. Nobody knows the explanation. Maybe it is just an illusion? Come and check.
In winter time thats a good place for winter sports
We dont have many restaurants here. Rycerska is the nicest one, also we have one pizzeria
Favorite Dish: You can it here tipical Polish food like: pierogi, polish sausage, beef and lots of potatos and different kind of soups. The best one is "Zurek" with eggs and sausage,
There is no much things to do here at night time because is not a tourist place. We have a cinema and few pubs. Also you can go to Bielsko Biala, bigger city placed about 20 km from Kety to enjoy night life there
Sometimes on the street, especially in mountains you can find people selling hand made souvenirs like sculptures ( see the pictures)
What to pay: Its not expensive here
