Laces
by magor65 The tradition of making laces in Koniakow is about 200 years old. Each young girl who was thinking of getting married had to embroider her own bonnet. It was a real shame if she wasn't able to do it by herself!
Today laces are still made in many homes in Koniakow. Most of them can be bought, but there are some for display only. The example is an unfinished tablecloth made for Queen Elizabeth II. It was to be as thin and delicate as cobweb, and that's why it was made of surgical thread. Unluckily, the woman who was embroidering it fell ill and died, not finishing her work.
Today some lace-makers who want to keep up-to-date embroider not only tableclothes or collars but even underwear. So if you want to have some unique lace panties, come to Koniakow. Leave a Comment
