Lancut Things to Do

They have taken advantage of the old stables to put two interesting museums:
Carriage Museum where are on exhibition more than 50 carriages, or sleds for all occasions: Paseo, ceremony , correo ...
Orthodox Religious Art Museum, where there are a large collection of icons of South-Eastern Poland

The interior of the castle is well preserved and the visit begins on the first floor where there are plenty of rooms some with lots of light and overlooking the gardens so that the landscape is integrated into the room.
There are many Chinese objects, furniture, cabinets, clocks, armours ...
When entering you put some covers on the shoes and at first you wonder until you realize in the wonder of the wood floors that they have
The lower floor is much darker and there is the collection of knives, pistols, sabres ...
Impressed with number of children that were visiting the Castle!

Thought: What should say our hosts: the Lubomirski, the Potockis , the Czarttoryski if they knew they would not let us take pictures inside the Castle ?

El interior del Castillo está muy bien conservado y la visita se empieza en le primer piso donde hay multitud de salas algunas con mucha luz y con vistas a los jardines de forma que consiguen integrarlas en la habitación .
Hay muchos objetos Chinos , muebles , vitrinas , relojes , armaduras...
Al entrar te hacen poner unos cobertores en los zapatos y en principio te extraña hasta que ves la maravilla de suelos de madera que tienen
La planta inferior es mucho más oscura y allí está la colección de armas blancas , pistolas , sables...
Que cantidad de niños había visitando el Castillo !!!
Pensamiento : Que dirían nuestros anfitriones : los Lubomirski , los Czarttoryski o los Potocki si se enteraran que no nos dejaron hacer fotos en el interior Castillo ?

Castle - One of the best known castle in Poland: frequently visited by thousands of tourists. Luckily, history saved this monument against many wars. There is a museum inside, where you can see monumental rooms from XVII century with valuable works of art: paintings and sculptures.

The castle’s group contain: beautiful Italian Garden, Rose Garden, great park with unique old trees, Little Romantic Castle, Building for carriages from XIX century and Hothouse. The castle is surrounded by moats.
The museum is open from 1st of February until the end of November. Opening hours 9.00-16.00. Last entering to the museum-one hour before shutting. Route of sightseeingcan be changed for various reasons or shortened, e.g. during the Musical Festival (the second and third week of May).

The buildings for storing carriages and burns from XIX century. There is a collection of over 100 vehicles – one of the biggest collection this kind in Europe. Most of them were owned by The Potockis. There are open carriages for summer, carriages for winter, hunting and racing carriages as well. Walls are decorated with hunting trophies.

Festival has began in 1961 and takes place in /in may/ in brilliant ball – room in the Lancut’s Castle. Different orchestras and opera groups from Poland have performed originally, but since 1964 organizers started invite also foreign musicians.

In 1986 Festival’s program has been enlarged about concerts on magnificent organs in Lezajsk’s Basilica as well as poetic and musical evenings with famous actors.

It’s amazing that such a small town as Lacut is, can organize and manage so wonderful festival of classical music, and every year maintain this tradition by inviting guests and musicians of world-wide fame.

International Musical Courses initiated by Zenon Brzewski in 1975. Every year in July it has been enlarging its program and the scope of influence. Interesting program, famous lecturers, and especially friendly atmosphere of trainings attract many young people from whole country and foreigners too. In Lancut they prepare to important contests, get valuable tips and get new experience.

The baroque synagogue built in 1761. Stanislaw Lubomirski who was the main Jewish protector in Lancut, was also the founder of that building. In 1939, during the World War II, the Germans set on fire in the synagogue. It survived thanks to Alfred Potocki, the owner of the castle. Unfortunately the fire burned the wooden equipment. The synagogue was rebuild after the war damages in 60s, and in 80s was completely renovated.

The synagogue shows the Easter type of that kind of buildings with magnificent interior decorations: beautiful polychromies, authentic bima and with the exhibition of Jewish art.

Visiting of the synagogue in the period from 15th of June until the 30th of September, every day except Mondays within 10.00 - 16.00 hours.
Apart from this time after prior submission – at least 2 days before the arrival.
