Looking at the northern wing of the Middle Castle's wing pay attention to the huge roof. It seems that more than half of the building height is covered by huge steep roof.
Why did they build so big and so steep roofs?
Big? I don't know - what do you think?
Steep? Maybe it's better becuase of heavy snow falls in wintertime.

You enter the Middle Castle's Courtyard just through this gate on my picture. The Courtyard is covered by a grass but walking on the grass is forbidden. Instead you can sit down on the benches located around.
Generally it seems that in contrast to the USA the grass is to look at not to walk on in Europe :-). Am I wrong?

The main draw to the city of Malbork is the imposing castle. Built in the 13th century by the Teutonic knights. You can take some great pictures of one of Poland's best castles.

Take a look at the northern wall of the castle, the Middle Castle to be more exact.
The entrance gate to the Castle Museum is located in the center.

Look at my picture. There are a lot of decorated windows with stained glasses around the cloisters of the castle's courtyard. Don't they look amazing?

The High and the Middle Castle are surrounded by numerous walls. There is one external wall just on the shore of the Nogat River.
If you have time you can walk there.

When you leave the High Castle's Courtyard you must pass the first gate and go the drawbridge to the second gate - look at my picture.
I like that architecture much. Don't you like it?
