Karkonosze National Park by martin_nl On our first day in Poland we went for a walk in the Karkonosze National Park. This is a nice park with quite some mountains. Make sure to pack some warm clothes, because one moment it is sunny and another moment the fog can set in. Leave a Comment

A no tourist old bar anywhere in Poland by diamond7 The Poland is really marvellous just in its unknown towns and villages. Discovering the county side you shall enjoy a lot more than staying only in the tourist points as Poland is very rich in costums, small events and beautiful nature exactly in unknown towns a little all over the country. More yet, you shall meet the very friendly hospitality of the polish people, and can enjoy local bars, small guesthouses and typical markets, which are not made for the tourist people. a cliff at Stolowe Mountains by call_me_rhia The Stolowe Mountains are, I believe, a National Park. This park is also known as the table mountains park. it's located within the Sudeten mountains. Walking around its paths you come across some really bizarre rock formations and canyons. There are deep goroges, too - and climbing walls - and rocks... some shaped like mushrooms, others in precarious balance. There's a clear similarity with some larger and better-known American National Parks, with the advantage that this one is a lot less crowded and developed. Definitely a geologist's delight. inside the Wieliczka Salt Mine by call_me_rhia The Wieliczka Salt Mine is now on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage places. It's a unique museum - one that will fascinate both adults and children. Mining started here in the 13th century and it is still actively mined. The mine is spread over 9 levels and there are 300 km of galleries - some of which you can visit - by guided-tour only, of course - since it's a maze of galleries. The visit lasts 2 hours and is led by a miner: there are visits in several languages. While miners worked in Wieliczka they also spent some of their free time sculpting the salt in the mine - I'm not sure of the reason, and as a result there are now many chambers with works of art, altars, figures and statues sculpted in salt. It's such a strange, charming place that words can't really do it justice (well, the UNESCO people did, by placing it under their protection). To get there take the Lux-Bus mini-vans leaving regularily (as soon as one is full) from Krakow train station (Dworzec Glowny): the trip costs around 2.50 zloti and takes about 20 minutes. Ask for the "Kopalnia Soli" bus stop and then head uphill for 200 metres. Leave a Comment
