Remember all the people that died in Gross-Rosen by martin_nl The former camp is a Polish State museum now. Most parts of the camp still exist. There is a small exhibition and they show an interesting film about the history of the camp. It is very impressive to visit this camp. Words can not describe how you will feel when you are here. The terrible history makes you quiet and think about what happened in those 5 awful years during World War II. Leave a Comment

by Rawicz There are still some nice places in Poland to discover. During many years some territories of Poland were closed for tourism because of Soviet bases placed there. One of such a place is North-West part of Poland, near Borne Sulinowo. Leave a Comment

church at Wambierzyce by call_me_rhia Wambierzyce is the Jerusalem of Lower Silesia. It's a little town in the Sudeten mountains, not far from the Czech border. What's interesting about it, is the Czermna - or else the skulls chapel. Next to the church in the picture there's a tiny chapel which, inside, is all made up with skulls and bones. It's an eerie sight, but it's also one of these once-in-a-lifetime chance to see it. Entrance is by guided tour only - and at least as far as when I was there - the tour was only conducted in Polish. Words, however, are unnecessary Leave a Comment

Zamosc by rollinstone81 Zamosc is one of the most beautiful cities in Poland, it features a faszinating old town, its on the UN world heritage site list. But the city also has a dark site: During the Nazi occupation Himmler liked the city so much that this *** decided the city had to be germanized. The city was then called Himmlerstadt. Well, I like Zamosc better, its beautiful, go there. Leave a Comment

by zaffaran Zulawy is a flat area which is crossed by rivers and canals. When you are there be careful about Tujsk and Rybina- there are two bascule bridges and it may occur that while driving you'll be waiting there. If you have a ride by a narrow-gauge train from Stegna to Nowy Dwor Gdanski you'll see a unique swing bridge for for those trains. In the pic on the yellow board there are times when the bridge is open for yachts to sail through. Leave a Comment
