Rain can change the mountain trails of the Pieniny Mountains into muddy brooks filled with clay. Walking on the slippery paths may not be much fun, even if you are wearing suitable shoes, and can even be dangerous in the upper parts of the mountains.
Make sure you don't find yourself on one of the viewing platforms at the top of any of the steep rocky peaks like Sokolica or Trzy Korony during a thunderstorm. Protected by metal railings, they may attract lightning so stay away from them.
Older people or people with blood circulation problems should also bear in mind the quick changes in air pressure in the mountains, especially before rain. The effort needed to climb up and down the steep slopes and scale the high peaks may bring about a heart attack. High humidity and temperature can be an extra difficulty for the inexperienced or the unfit.

The Pieniny are the most frequented mountains in Poland after the Tatras. The sheer jagged mountain faces and the wonderful nature attract thousands of tourists every year. The paths, especially as you come near the summits are not wide enough to accommodate all so sometimes you will have to wait in a queue to get to a beauty spot, for instance the viewing platforms at the top of Trzy Korony or Sokolica. You will encounter many school and other organised trips on your way, rather difficult to avoid if you want to see the main attractions. And it would be best if you could also have a guide who could direct you to the most interesting places. Guides, some of them English-speaking, are available from the National Park authorities.

Just a warning..no, not a dangerous one...but if you want to go rafting along The Dunajec in the off season, please try to get enough people in your group, so that once you reach there, you guys can go on the raft right away (after paying that is...).
One raft can take up to 10 people, so the fees are devided between these 10 persons.
This means that you will need to pay the SAME amount if there are only 2 of you.
I was waiting for about 2 hours, just to get enough people for one raft ride, because I didn't want to pay extra....
In contrast.., the rafters also have to wait for us, if we want to wait for more people to join in our group...
You have been told...so, it's your desicion.
