Gazdowka: My first Polish meal
This was my first foray into true traditional Polish food. The menu is in both Polsih and English languages and my waiter spoke English. The decor of the resataurant is of a log cabin or hunters lodge. I found the menu somewhat funny as the English translations were interesting. The two that I remember were in the appetizers section. They were "wing of bird with 3 sauces" and "toasted bread with grease". After I placed my order for my food they brought me a basket with rye bread. With this they brought a tub of lard and a tub of white cheese with herbs. I tried a very small amount of the lard on a bite of bread and it was absolutely horrendous. It looked just like bacon grease that your grandparents always saved. The white cheese with herbs was very close to a goat cheese with herbs. It was tasty.
