Food Glorious Food

by cheekymarieh

There are some fine quality vodkas to be found. They come in many flavours. Try lemon or cherry - or Zubrowka (with a blade of bison grass in it) The food of the country has been influenced by Jewish, Lithuanian, Russian, Ukranian, Hungarian, Lithuanian and German cuisine. Like evry country they have their own national dishes:Bigos – sauerkraut and meatBarszcz – beetroot soup (often served with meat in it)Pierogi - dumplings with various fillings

Piwnica Pod Rozanka: Polish cuisine not to miss!

by Gerry_Crooks

Typical Polish cuisine quality with very nice ambience to help you dine alone, with a special friend or with a group of friends.Again, this place is down stairs in a basement with small rooms to enjoy your meals. The service is your typical Polish standard. Most North Americans find Polosh restaurant service slow, but I do not agree. When I go to a restaurant it is to enjoy the experience with whomever I am with. My favourite dish here is the salmon. You can start with the tartar salmon or tartar beef. Order the salmon with vegitables, some bread and butter, a decent bottle of wine and just let your taste buds go wild!

El Gringo: Mexican food in Poland?

by Gerry_Crooks

Normally, when I visit a country I stick with the local type of cuisine. In this case, El Gringo, Rzeszow offers a difference with typical Polish quality. The restaurant is naturally in a basement with Mexican decor. The service is very good with charming employees and a limited but decent menu choice. I tried about everything they offer on the menu and they were all good. It was strange to see a Mexican dish served in a country so far away! The Guatamala and cheese dish is excellent. You can get it as spicy as you wish or have it as bland also. As I am writing this, I can not decide which dish I really liked the most. Maybe I must return to do a serious taste testing and come up with a proper result for this page.

Fried Young Cabbage

by gale.blog.pl

I believe that this is also a typical Polish meal. It's easy to make and incredibly cheap. Here's how I make it:Ingredients:1 young cabbage1 fresh medium-sized onion0.5 litre boullionblack peppersalt1 spoon of olive oiljuice from 1 medium-sized lemon.Cut the cabbage in half and then slice into thin strips. Chop onion. Boil boullion, add olive oil, cabbage and onion, season with freshly ground pepper, salt and lemon juice. Cook on small fire in a covered pot for 30-40 minutes, stir every 5 minutes. Use a strainer to cullender newly created cabbage soup from cabbage. Uncover the pot and fry the cabbage for 5 minutes stirring constantly.Serve hot - this amount of cabbage makes meal for 2 persons.Good appetite :)

Chlodnik

by gale.blog.pl

Chlodnik is a vegetable and yogurt soup, special for Polish cuisine (correct me if I'm wrong). It's very popular in summer as it's... cold! Here's how I make chlodnik:You need a cucumber, three medium sized boiled beetroots (not too soft), a piece of garlic, dill, dim, some salt, pepper and 3/4 litre of yogurt. Grate the cucumber and beetroots, mash garlic, chop dill and dim throughly, pour yogurt and mix it all (preferably with a mixer). Add salt and black pepper. Put the soup in a fridge for an hour.Delicious!!!You can serve it with boiled egg cut into quarters, with bread or toasts. It's a great meal for summer. It's also fantastic for vegetarians (like me) and for those who count each calory (like me).

Bortsch

by mariquita

We used to call it "strawberry soup" for its beautiful pinky colour when mixed with cream. But it is actually made of sugar beet and its taste is horrible. We could not get used to it, although it was served very often in Poland. We could manage it with the dumplings, but never with the strawberry soup.

Chlopskie jadlo = "Peasant Food": Polish best peasant food

by matcrazy1

Original 19th century wooden cottage inn - beautiful inside, outside hmmm...so,so. First floor for non smoking. Three chambers on the ground floor. Delicious original polish homemade cousine: home-baked bread and traditional Polish dishes such as hand made pierogi, roasts, bigos and all sorts of soups; no juices, only water, compote, beer, vodka to drink; some dishes served in wooden bowls with wooden spoons, all handmade. Very, very nice stuff. Credit cards (Visa) accepted. CHEAP! Beer(0,5l) - 6,50zl=1,8E=1,56$..The restaurant was awarded the prestigous Teraz Polska (Poland Now) promotional logo by the President of Poland. .Access by a car only..There is a small net of restaurants "Chlopskie jadlo" now - all in the same style and all serve the same food. There are in:1. Krakow - ul. Sw. Agnieszki 1 (ul. means ulica=street) in the old town;2. Krakow - ul. Sw. Jana 3 (the old town);3....

Restauracja Eden: Delicious Polish duck

by matcrazy1

I ate in Restaurant Eden only once in late 90'. What do I remember? - very nice service,- good variety of traditional Polish dishes - delicious food,- interesting interior design and rather ugly exterior,- loooooong waiting for dishes,- more then average prices,- there was a small hotel there as well..My concusion: if you like good Polish food it's a good restaurant when you are driving from Warsaw to Katowice (direction Wien in Austria).. Polish duck - simply delicious.

A Traditional Polish...

by a.g.roberts

A Traditional Polish Restaurant You must eat at a traditional restaurant while in Poland. In general the meal will be heaps of meat (usually pork), either dumplings or potatoes and a big pile of boiled cabbage. Most dishes seem to be a variation on this them. This should be a big hit with anyone who enjoys a hearty meal. These dishes go especially well with beer so don't forget to order a large mug to wash it all down!
