Sopot's pier (the "Molo") is Europe's longest wooden pier, at a length of 645m. Throughout the day it is thronged with tourists enjoying a stroll and some sea air. Entrance to the pier costs 2.50 Zloty during the day (and 3.30 Zloty at weekends, I think) and is free at night. Upon entering the pier, you will first encounter a large open area with fountains, gardens, cafes and souvenir stalls. Tickets for boat trips to Gdansk, Gdynia and Hel can be bought at the entrance to the pier or at a kiosk on the pier itself and depart from the end of the pier. Leave a Comment

The main street in Sopot is ul Bohaterow Monte Cassino (or Heroes of the Monte Cassino) and this is where most people will spend their time when visiting Sopot. Along this completely pedestrianized thoroughfare, you'll find shops, cafes, restaurants and abundant opportunities for people watching. It leads to Plac Zdrojowy near the end and ultimately to the Molo, the long wooden pier leading into the Gulf of Gdansk in the Baltic Sea. Leave a Comment

by Pawtuxet These boats are pretty amusing. Everyone gets a life vest and you can hear people telling their mates or family members, "don't fall off! hang on." Of course, some of us already know what's going to happen. The operator of the boat starts out real easy and everyone gets very confidant and then whamoh! the guy swerves hard enough to send them all flying! Great fun. Everyone has an easy enough time climbing back on, and then the process begins yet again. Fun to watch. Leave a Comment

There is an enormous boardwalk which stretches out into the sea. For a few zlotys you can gain admittance, as everyone does, and stroll out to do some people watching, enjoy the breeze on a blazing hot summer day....or watch the crazy people take a banana boat ride. It's quite pleasant. Believe it or not, it reminded me of being on Cape Cod, Massachusetts in Provincetown. Sometimes my mind plays little games like that. Leave a Comment

This is a must when you are in Sopot. The pier is considered to be the longest wooden pier in Europe, but because it's wooden it gets damaged very often as autumn and winter gales can be violent. the pier was finally built in the twenties of the 20th century and immediately gained popularity as a place for strolls and meetings. In summer you can start from here your trip to Gdansk, Gdynia or Hel. By ship of course! Leave a Comment

by Pawtuxet Next time I insist that Gosia and I do some cha-cha ing with the rest of the crazy people down by the beach. You paid admittance to the fenced area where 2 instructors patiently tried to teach the crowd several cha cha moves... and some of them actually learned something! Fun way to spend some time as an alternative to the beach. Gets you prepared for some clubbing later on. You can really look good on the dance floor!! :-) Leave a Comment

by Gosia78 The Forest Opera was officially opened on the 11 August 1909. This unique forest location close to Nowowiejskie Lake is considered to be the most beautiful musical stage in Europe and to have one of the best acoustics.. An audience of 5 thousand can watch the performance. The annual Sopot Festival takes place here as well as concerts with Polish and foreign stars. It?s worth taking a walk around the park ?very pleasant place for a stroll .. or more. Address: 12 Moniuszki St.

by Pawtuxet There is a park-like area at the end of the business strip going down hill toward the beach and the board walk. It's pleasant to sit in the shade for a while on such a hot day. It was a good spot to sit and get the sand off your feet before putting your shoes back on. That's always an interesting challenge when you go to the beach, isn't it? Leave a Comment

The wooden Pier It is the longest construction made of wood in Europe. It stretches up to 516 meters into the sea and it is 10 meter wide with many decks on its side. Built as we see it today in 1928. The entire area is a place of commerce, events and exhibitions during summer. Recently there was a New Year parties organized on the pier premises. There are lower and upper decks on the pier, lower decks are used by passenger ships and many yachts. The pier is also the favorite place for romantic walks. This is the place where yachts and ships of "white fleet" moor. At the end of the pier, there is a viewpoint from which one may watch the Grand Hotel, panorama of Sopot.

This little glass gazebo housed a fountain which claims to hold a special water which will heal and rejuvenate. You could fill a bottle, splash your face, or sign up for a spa visit. Sorry I could not translate the sign in the 2nd pic. It tells you the variety of services and uses for the water. Leave a Comment
