A great family outting is the Pirate Ship Ustka sailing from the Sopot Pier. Through out the day they have 40-minute cruises along the bay. It is a no-smoking vessel with tables on the decks for families to enjoy a short cruise. They serve drinks & snacks and one gets a nice view along the coast. And what kid doesn't want to sail on a pirate ship! It is not expensive and if you are in Sopot with young kids, they will love it! Being an older guy that likes a smoke with a beer, it wasn't my E-ticket ride, but I could see the families had a great time.

Sopot is famous for its clean, sandy beaches, wich stretch along the whole 4.5 km of the Sopot coast. ou can find here water chutes, water and beach equipment rental facilities, showers, wooded moraine hills and numerous little pubs and cafés. Very healthly are the walks along the coast becouse in the air there is big concentration of iodine.

The really best thing to do when you are in Sopot is to visit my aunt Jagoda, but if you don't have her adress you may as well go to the Sopot beach and stroll along from the Pier towards east.
After a short walk you will encounter a Fisherman monument and a small row of fisherman baracks that were widely used not so long ago.
In one of those baracks you will find a fish store and in the next one and INFORMAL FISHERMAN MUSEUM (Rybackie mini muzeum).
Fisherman Museum is an amasing place to visit. It is owned by Jerzy Piatek (George Friday) the same fisherman who was using it to catch a fish through his whole life. Now guy is retired and over the years he collected an amasing ammount of stuff.
Just look at my pictures and judge for yourself.
The guy has also amasing stories to tell and has a really great sense of humor.
Don't forget to write something in his guest book and also leave some donation since retairement check in poland is almost nithing.

..."Malutkie, kameralne pomieszczenie urzeka klimatem i bogactwem eksponatów. W dawnym boksie przy przystani rybackiej w Sopocie Jerzy Pi¹tek urz¹dzi³ niewielkie muzeum. Niewielkie, ale jedyne w swoim rodzaju. "...

If you are in Sopot you must go to the beach.
Beach is a great place to watch the sailboats as well as a huge ships that are going to Gdansk or Grynia ports.
You can find on the beach lots of nice golden sand for yourself as well as lots of places to stop for a bite and a cold beer. And the view, the vew is spectacular, during the day and during the night.

If you'd rather cicle than walk around Sopot, rent a bike from the Rowerownia rental. Sopot has several cycling routes: in the town itself, along the beach to Gdansk and Gdynia, as well as in the surrounding forest hills. They also have mountain bikes if you feel more adventurous :-) Depending on the type of bike you rent, you will pay 10-12 zloty (up to $4) for 2 hours; a day's rental will cost you 28-35 zloty ($9-$12). The rates for children's bikes are up to 50% lower. The Rowerownia rental is 10 minute's walk from the Monciak pedestrian street. The nearest SKM train station is Sopot Wyscigi. Carrying the bike on the SKM train is free in the summer.

This little glass gazebo housed a fountain which claims to hold a special water which will heal and rejuvenate. You could fill a bottle, splash your face, or sign up for a spa visit. Sorry I could not translate the sign in the 2nd pic. It tells you the variety of services and uses for the water.

The Molo pier is Sopot's best known landmark but, to Poles, the town is also famous for its Opera Lesna amphitheatre in the forest (hence the name "Forest Theatre"). The greatest event there is the international song contest at the end of August (or beginning of September). It was the most prestigous pop music event in the former Eastern Block, televised by all the countries. Now the contest is spiced up with an extra concert of a world-wide known music star. It is also a venue for other types of performaces and concerts, including classical music. Built in 1909, the amphitheatre can hold up to 5,000 viewers. It's open for tourists in the summer Jun-Sep. Sorry, no picture: last time I was there was in my teenage years.
To get there, you need to walk straight ahead away from the pier, under the railway bridge, and follow the street till you reach the theatre gate. The walk is a bit up the hill at the far end but it's not very strenuous.

The AquaPark has many attractions but the greatest one is the wild river that immitates a speedy mountain river with waterfalls. It gives you a feeling as if you were rafting. It's 71 metres long, and only those who measure at least 160cm in height are admitted. If water fun is not your cup of tea, try bowling there!
If you want to walk there, go along the beach (or Haffnera St.) with the sea to your right, or get on the SKM train to travel to the next stop, Sopot Kamienny Potok.

The lighthouse with the viewing deck is a part of the Balneological Plant. It dates back to 1904 when it was built as a chimney for the plant, but the designers were not happy with just a chimney so they made it into a lighthouse with a viewing deck, wasn't that a great idea. There's a small admission fee for those who want to see the beaches and the long pier from above.
