Gdansk is, next to Cracow, one of the most beautiful cities in Poland, though much different. In the old town´s architecture you can see a lot of influence from Flemish, German, Scandinavian and even Italian tradition - a heritage from the centuries, when Gdansk was one of the cities of the Hansa, cooperating in international trade across the Baltic see. Malbork - castle of the Teutonic knights
The castle of the Teutonic knights used to be the bastion of the Order state in the Middle Ages, when the competition for power and control over the cities was a constant source of conflict and war between the Polish crown and the Teutonic Order. Chojnik, the castle in Sobieszów by Jelenia Góra. The legend is that once upon a time the beautifull but cruel princess Kunegunda lived there. She decided that she will wed only this brave knight which will be able to ride on a horsback on the top of the high and narrow tower.
There were a lot of wonderful knights who tried to do it, but they fell down and died. Finally there appeared one lonely rider in magnificent armor and victoriously rode on the pick of tower. Kunegunda was delighted, because she fell in love with this brave man at first sight. But the knight told her that she couldn’t live with someone so cruel to let so many people die, just for a caprice. And he has gone. Kunegunda was so deppressed that she flung herself down of the tower… Leave a Comment

The old town square in Warsaw was completely destroyed in WW II, but rebuilt using Canneletto's paintings as a map. You would never know it. Walk the Royal Mile to see the Palaces and gardens. The church containing Chopin's heart, Copernicus's school and modern shopping malls make it all so exciting. The Warsaw Jewish Cemetery is 4 hectors and dates back 400 years.
