Be careful that when you get on public transportation, you eitehr have a ticket or can buy one on the tram. This is different in every Polish city, so it's best to ask. In Poznan I assumed you could pay the driver (because there was no ticket machine at the tram stop), but when I got on this appeared not to be true. I got fined 110 zl! And off course I couldn't defend myself because the controllers only knew Polish. When I arrived in Gdansk and had to take a tram to get to the campsite, I assumed you would have to buy tickets in advance there too, so I asked a guy (who wanted me to stay at a certain hostel, but I wasn't interested) and he pointed me in a direction where I didn't find any ticket office.
