Legnickie Pole is a small village near Legnica in Lower Silesia. It was the site of the battle of Legnica on April 1241 between the Mongols and Polish army led by Henry II the Pious of the Piast dynasty. The Polish lost the battle and Henry was decapitated. In the place where his headless body was found, people built a church, which was destroyed in the times of reformation. After WW II in this place a museum of the battle of Legnica was opened. Just opposite the museum we can admire one of the best examples of Baroque churches in Silesia - St. Hedwig's church.
Strzegom

Strzegom is another Silesian town with long and rich history. If you happen to be there you must see the church of St. Peter and Paul. It is one of the biggest and most beautiful Gothic buildings in Lower Silesia. Even if you don't get inside (the church may be closed), look at the unique portals over the entrance gates. I can also reccommend climbing up the Tower (built in the 14th century) in the Market Square. Apart from the nice view from the top, you will also see inside the collection of interesting paintings and the bell coming from 1365.

This former concentration camp of the Nazi's impressed us by its solemn emptyness. Only the main entrance, foundations and monument are left of this large camp in former Germany. When we visited, there were no tourist except us and that added to the impression. This was the main site of a camp that was distributed all over Silesia.In the museum - which was closed - there was shown a short film in English about the camp.The village RogoŸnica is situated 7 km from Strzegom (by state road No. 374 Strzegom - Legnica). Turn left (from the direction of Strzegom) in the village, about 2 km, suddenly on your right hand side.
