I visited Pod Papugami (Under the Parrots) with a local VT member. It is a huge multi-level pub with wacky movie memorabilia decorations and an informal atmosphere.
The pub always seems to be crowded with a mix of locals and tourists. It also includes a dining area. A Pint of local beer sets you back 7 Zloty (2006).

Spiz is Poland's first microbrewery and it is said to serve the best beer in Poland. You can drink your beer inside the dark vaulted cellar or on the nice outdoor terrace on the Market Square.
Every beer comes with a free toasted bread and lard. Due to its central location, Spiz seems to be quite popular with tourists. The brewery also includes a restaurant.

Walking across the Tumski bridge we enter the site which was the original Slaw settlement. Now there is the Episcopal quarter with 5 medieval churches. Walking towards the cathedral we go past the church in the picture. This is actually not one but 2 churches in one building - one on the top of the other ? St. Cross and St. Bartholomew. Both are spacious and the lower - St. Bartholomew - too large to be regarded only as a crypt. The building was founded in 1288 by the Duke Henryk the Righteous. In the square, next to the church stands a Baroque monument of St. Jan Nepomuk.

of course not a beach costume...

And then.. passing by the Archbishop’s palace we come in front of the XIII century cathedral. Actually.. the cathedral was so much destroyed during the last war.. that it’s really hard to say which century it should belong to… However, rebuilt as well as it was only possible is quite an interesting mixture of styles. The interior impresses with it’s monumental magnificence..

Just for a walk around I'd recommend good shoes first of all. High heels could be a bit of problem on the cobble stone streets. To enter the sacral buildings.. probably the same as elsewhere - clothes which won't hurt anybody's religious feelings..

    czakram?
    by Toja
Some people believe, this little hexagonal church on the right (St. Mark) is located in the ancient spot which is a special energetic place.. called czakram. However, I found information that such a place is in fact in Poland (there are 7 in the whole world according to some Hidu believe) but not in Wroclaw. The real czakram should be looked for in the ancient castle - Wawel in Krakow - the former Polish capital city.
In the centre - St. Cross and St. Bartholomew
on the left, behind the fence - the botanical gardens

St. Marc is very rarely opened.. but.. no extra outfit required the one for the cathedral will do
    :-)

This communist theme club in the heart of Wroclaw is the second most bizarre night club i've ever been too (after one in Cambodia) and i've hardly ever had so much fun anywhere.
When you enter this club your first impression will be : ????, this boring socialist retro kitsch cafe with awfully pathetic folk music is supposed to be one of the city's hottest clubs? But then you go downstairs and you'll be speechless. Wroclaw's sexiest girls dancing to mainly 60s and 70s music between portraits of Che, Mao, Lenin and other comrades. What a sight!!!!
The club also deserves a special bonus for playing rare gems such as Antonio Banderas' Mariachi song and Kalinka + it's 70% female!!

A nice cool and lonely walk at night.. I consider a pleasure.. in Wroclaw
Especially this place - Ostrow Tumski is charming.. There is the cathedral and some other churches.. and this place is believed to be the most ancient spot of the town.. before the city was founded and before the Christians took over.. it was an ancient occult place called.. - czachram.. in Polish.. and in English.. :-) I'll let you know once I've learnt.. what's called in English.

    anything you wish :-)

The Rynek is ligned with a ton of bars, pubs and restaurants. Majority of them have outdoor patios where you can sit down and enjoy the bustling nightlife. You can sit and people watch, or enjoy the mariachi-style live gypsy bands, watch drama students perform fiery acrobatics, or folklore dancing and even opera singing. Every night in the rynek is incredible! You have not seen Wroclaw without going to the Rynek at night!!!

    No particular dress code.

While Wroclaw's cafe and pub scene is not quite as spectacular as the one in Krakow, there are still several great places to spend the evening.
We started our tour in the afternoon with a cappuccino at the Cafe Artzat (ul. Malarska 30), a classical cafe by Polish standards. We then started the pub crawl at the Pod Kalamburem (ul. Kuznicza 29a), an Art Nouveau student pub, rowdy and sophisticated at the same time, it's a great place with cheap beer and a cheerful crowd. Before we went clubbing at the PLR, we had a couple of beers at the Wiezienna (ul. Wiezienna 6), an alternative backyard pub decorated with chess boards and typewriters. There's great chill-out music, an arty clientele and a gorgeous bar maid, who could ask for more?
