THE MUSEUM OF ART in Lodz is particularly worth visiting. It is one of the oldest museums of modern art in Europe.
Its essence is the unique International Collection of Modern Art covering the period from the 1920s. The following artists offered their works: Adler, Marcoussis, Leger, Arp, Ernst, Schiwtters, Picasso, Chagall, Vantongerlo, Van Doesburg and some Polish artists: Witkiewich, Hiller, Chwistek, Czyzewski. The Museum is also involved in organization of many exhibitions abroad. Its exhibits were presented at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Musee d'Art Contemporain in Lyon, Kunstmusseum in Bonn, also in Milan, Turin, Tokyo and in many other cities of the world.

Izrael Poznanski was the second great producer of cotton goods in the Lodz market and was a serious competition for Karol Wilhelm Scheilbler's firm.
The palace together with the factory and workers' estate situated on the other side of the street forms an industrial-residential complex characteristic of Lodz.
The palace acquired its present monumental Neo-Baroque form with the exuberant decoration in 1901-1903. Both the internal and external decorations represented a defined ideological programme. It was to emphasise monumental architecture, the residential character of the seat, power of the owner and industry. When asked by an architect in what style he wanted his palace to be built Poznanski answered that he was so rich that he could have it in all styles. And such is the palace.

PIOTRKOWSKA STREET: 4 kilometres of residences, 150 years of history.
Is it right for the centre of a big city to consist of one street? No disputes will change the fact that two kilometres of Piotrkowska Street play that role. The architecture may not to be too original but after the Second World War it turned out that Piotrkowska Street is the only remaining street of this kind in Europe. What makes it unique is hundreds of mansions and tenement houses packed tightly along it. Today it plays the role reserved elsewhere for a marketplace.
During moonlit weekends nights Piotrkowska Street turns into a sort of ‘Bermuda triangle’ where not only Lodzians, but also visitors have been known to disappear for long hours.
