My LOT plane at the gate in Brussels by filipdebont So now that my "AirPolonia" problem was solved, I could start a search for a new flight. Via the travel search engine: www.comparflight.com, I found a decent flight towards Poland. So I booked a LOT flight at www.travelprice.com, they gave the best flight schedule / price combination. So I booked a morning flight from Brussels towards Warsaw (1st of May), and an evening return flight from Warsaw to Brussels (9th of May). Both flights were very quiet and the flight time was about 1h50, on board there was a good service with drinks and sandwiches (even with smoked salmon). By the way LOT is also a member of the Star Alliance group, so I even collected some flight miles on my Thai Royal Orchid frequent flyer account. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

by gosiaPL The John Paul II Kraków-Balice Airport is 11km west of the city. Direct flights are from/to: Budapest, Chicago, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Tel Aviv, Vienna and, of course, Warsaw. From the Kraków airport you can get to the centre by taxi, or bus #208 that stops at the main railway station - that's right in the centre and only 5 minutes' walk from the Market Square. I think I am looking out at the clouds thinking that I am bringing the Texas sunshine to Krakow. Only a hour to go before we land! I am busy talking to a Polish lady with an 11 month child, it was fun learning more about where I was going before I landed. Anna and Cub her son entertained me on LOT Polish airlines. Krakow airport by leics ....is a small and rather pleasant place. There's been a lot of new building, I think, and it shows. You'll definitely have to get on a bus to and from the plane, even if it's only a few yards from the terminal, which is a bit of a pain. There are several cafes/restaurants landside in which you can occupy yourself pleasantly enough whilst waiting for check-in, two of which have tables outside (the whole airport is non-smokiing, so that's your only choice if you want to have a cigarette). Prices, as in all airports, are a bit higher than elsewhere but not too steep, and the food is adequate. There aren't many check-in desks, so the area can get pretty crowded. Airside, there's a small shop and a place to buy coffee etc. Security was extremely strict when I was there (August 2006), with full body searches for UK passengers (at least) so I suggest you allow a little extra time for this; aim to get to the gate earlier than you would do normally. Air Polonia by filipdebont As I started with my planning of my Poland trip (in November 2004), I just wanted to visit Warsaw and Krakow. After a short search, I found a cheap flight to Poland, with AirPolonia, which was flying from Charleroi - Belgium. The price for the return flight (Charleroi - Krakow - Charleroi) was 92 euro . . . . Cheap, he But then a dark Sunday in December (6th of December 2004), AirPolonia suddenly stopped flying. Passengers with a departure before end of March could change their ticket for a light to Poland with Wizz Air. As I was going in May, that did not count for me. Several mails towards AirPolonia stayed unanswered. So I really thought that I had lost my money. So I launched my question on the travel forum of this great site, and och yes there came an answer. Great member Adam_UK gave me the tip to try to get my money back via my Credit Card Company (Visa). I followed his advice and wrote a letter to Visa, explaining that I had paid for a service I would never receive, and wonder och wonder, 3 weeks later the paid sum was back on my account. (Thank You, Adam_UK) So now I could look for a new flight. And now I booked a LOT flight. Leave a Comment

Pope is coming! by Skeptic-jr Krakow has a small airport Balice (dedicated to the Pope John Paul II). The traffic is limited and till now (May 2004) used only by "big carriers" not the "low cost" air lines. So you can fly here by air lines such as: (Polish) Lot, British Airways, (Hungarian) Malev, Czech Airlines... Easy Jet, Ryan Air, Wizz Air etc. do not fly to (and from) Krakow. The local authorities say that they try to do something, but the cheap lines still are not allowed to use this airport (the place belongs to the army). The Balice Airport is situated about 20 kilometers from the Krakow's center. You can easy get there by the city's buses (tickets: normal 2,4 zloty or hourly 3 zloty) or by taxi (~ 40-60 zloty). On the photo: The plane with the Pope JP II on its board is reaching the Balice Airport (2002). Leave a Comment

the front view of the passenger terminal. by kolabor The John PAul II Airport in Krakow. This is the official name. But among people the name is Balice (in case you needed to ask someone). The airport has been improved lately and now offers connections to many European cities (and thanks to the cheap airlines- for affordable prices). To get there from the city take 192 bus and just go to the very last busstop (from the market square it should take some 40 minutes). Just remember: it has to have the sign PORT LOTNICZY on the screen, otherwise you'll go in the wrong direction :) Leave a Comment

. The John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice was easy to navigate. LOT airlines is a great airline that has a great record for being on time .... The arrivals area was easy to get to, and the luggage came thru with no problem rather quickly. There is actually 2 airports in one at the location: International Departures & Arrivals Domestic Departures & Arrivals The domestic flights are primarily the prop planes that park out on the tarmac where you get a bus to board or a bus that takes you to the terminal. The pictures of the plane was our arrival in Krakow on a short flight from Warsaw .... Leave a Comment

Belice airport, Krakow by Elena_blue The Belice airport, about 15 klm outside Krakow, is quite small and modest for a city like Krakow. However projects are in progress for its renovation and expansion. There are only 1-2 shops but even these were closed on the afternoon I departed. Bus line 192 connects the airport with Krakow city center. Theme: Airplane

by katmag This is the Balice International Airport in Krakow (airport code KRK). If you come here and stay at Dom Piast Student Hostel where I stayed, you can take the 208 bus to Miasteczko studenckie AGH (this pictue is taken from the bus stop). This is a small airport and very easy to get around at. Don't exchange money at the airport - it's usually a rip off. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane
