My favourite place (OK, sometimes it's over-crowded) to buy travel books is multistorey Empik Megastore. They have thousands of them + maps - unbelievable collection: go downstairs to old cellars and try not to get lost haha. Some books but not many are in foreign languages. There are more English books on Poland and Krakow.
Btw there are over 26,000 titles of various music CDs there as well. Too much for me haha.
Besides books in Polish most of Krakow’s downtown bookstores have a limited stock of paperback foreign literature, mostly classics and recent bestsellers in English, German and French. They often sell the best-known foreign weeklies and magazines as well. Also newsstands in the biggest Krakow hotels vend foreign press. But do not be surprised that a copy of a three-day-old newspaper costs sometimes tenfold the cover rate, whereas most foreign magazines are reasonably priced.
What to buy: Travel books and maps
Albums on Poland and Krakow
What to pay: Travel books (like Lonely Planet) about 15-20 $ each.
Great albums on Krakow/Poland with amazing pictures 25-30 $
The Empik megastore in the main square has a huge selection of books,cd's and cpu games.Upstairs it is more like a library, you can select a book and sit down a read it before you decide to buy it or not.
For english language newspapers, magazines and books. The newspapers tend to be about a day or 2 old but still good if you haven't seen any news in a while.
