Lopuszna and Josef Tischner
Lopuszna is also the place where a well known Polish priest, the Rev. Josef Tischner used to live. Here his parents worked as teachers and here this outstanding priest and philosopher loved to spend his free time. When he died in 2000 after long suffering his body was laid here at the Lopuszna cemetery. This is what he said about the village:"In Lopuszna there is silence. In such silence you can hear the simplest sounds: the hum of water in the stream or the snap of branches in the fire. But the most genuine is the silence in the church. It is so deep that it can calm down all the noise, even the one in human heart.
