Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring some tissues with you to the camp, for the more emotional people will have trouble getting through without some tears.

Photo Equipment: Photos are allowed outside, I can't be sure about inside the buildings, I didn't attempt it.

Weather Can Be Extreme

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: The weather in Poland can be very harsh in the Winter months. I last visited in November and it was bitter cold. Wrap up warm and pack gloves, a hat and waterproof shoes.

Miscellaneous: Birkenau is a vast site and when covered with snow quite hard to walk on, especially if you venture away from the main paths. For less sure-footed visitors it may be worth carrying a whistle and/or a mobile phone incase of difficulties. The sunglare from the snow can be quite strong as well so take a pair of sunglasses.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: In April: a light jacket for warmer days, but a warmer and a rain jacket is necessary. Some sneakers and rainproofed shoes.

Auschwitz I

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring comfortable shoes, that will allow you to see a lot of the camp, and because the ground is grassy, rocky or muddy I wouldn't wear heals or dress shoes.
