Szczawnica Things to Do

  • Bryjarka hill , Beresnik

Bryjarka is a hill with at least 3 advantages: - it is only about 45 min. from plac Dietla in Szczawnica- it offers a really great view of Szczawnica with the surrounding hills and The Dunajec River Gorge- at the end of the walk there’s a hut with incredible, inexpensive menu and equally incredible view. The hut's called Beresnik (from the name of...

I saw many families...

  • Homole Ravine

One of the most popular destinations in Pieniny. A 35-hike up a picturesque ravine along Kamionka stream. The trail, steep at places is facilitated with bridges and metal steps with railings. The ravine's name derives from the Ruthenian words “gomo³a”, “homo³a”, which means “oval”, “not horned” and refers to the valley shape. The green tourist...

  • Rafting on Dunajec

The biggest tourist attraction of Pieniny is rafting at Dunajec – one of the most beautiful river gorges in Europe. Rafting starts in K¹ty and ends in Szczawnica or Kroœcienko. The most interesting part of the Dunajec Gorge in Pieniny is located between Sromowce Ni¿ne – a village at the foot of Trzy Korony and Szczawnica, with the Pieniny Road...

Szczawnica Restaurants

  • Bacówka near Homole Ravine

Once again, a typical, mountain restaurant serving regional food, reasonably priced. I heard some people complain about slow service, but visiting the place twice, both times we were served quickly. The second time the waitress came up to us three times before we finally made up our mind about the order. What's funny about the menu is that some...

Whether you choose to sit inside or outside you get a great panoramic view of Szczawnica and its...

Inside you'll find wooden tables and benches, the decoration and music gives a good taste of local folklore. The location is also very nice - along a popular blue hiking trail, next to a little waterfall...

To most people, Szczawnica would be the best base to go rafting in the Dunajec River.
We took the bus to Nowy Targ, then, another bus to Katy; Although there should be a direct bus from Szczawnica, straight to Katy, near where the wharf of the Dunajec, situated.

The rafting trip would end in Szczawnica (although the raft will continue to Kroscienko, about 3 more km to cover) & you can head straight to the Koci Zamek Restaurant ( as suggested in my restaurant tips...) before going back to your room for a good rest !

Hey ! Wait for me !
