High Tatras Etiquette
It's good practice to "leave only footprints, take only picturess", when hiking in the High Tatras. Any rubbish (food wrappings, water bottles, etc) that you bring up should also be brought down. There are bins at some of the Chaty but otherwise there is no where to dispose of waste until you descend.
You have to try oscypek. It's a kind of smoke-dried chees. Can be made from sheep's milk (better) or mixed sheep's and goat's milk.
You can buy it everywhere, on the bazaar (the biggest at the foot of Gubalowka in Zakopane), from the street sellers, sometimes they sell only oscypek's.
Hello... Czesc... Dzien dobry...
Say Hello or Dzien dobry or Czesc to people you meet on your way. It's a quite popular custom and sometimes it's funny... very often I was meeting a group of pupils and every one wanted to be kind and said Dzien dobry. And I had to answer to every one. It was like Dzien dobry... Dzien dobry... Dzien dobry... about 30 times. But it was nice.
