In my opinion the information provided by "In Your Pocket" is most helpful for independent travels to East or Central Europe. Most of the tips are published on their webpage. In addition about 20 printed city guides are available locally at the tourist information offices, kiosks or in hotels. I got myself the Gdansk guide (5 Zloty, 2005) at the tourist information office in Sopot. Among all kinds of tips it includes various helpful maps of the Tri-City region. Leave a Comment

Free map of the Tri-City by HORSCHECK Don't forget to pick up a free map of the Tri-City at one of the Tourist Information Centres. It includes maps of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia and some other useful information. The main Tourist Information Centre is located at ul. Dluga 45, just opposite to the Main Town Hall (Ratusz). A small branch can be found outside of the Main Train Station (Gdansk Glowny). Leave a Comment

I've bought "Gdansk in your pocket" brochure at Gdansk Department of Polish Tourist Association that is at the eastern end of Dluga Street (# 45), opposite to the Old Town Hall. This 100-page brochure in English is published 4 times a year, costs only 5 zl (€ 1.3) and contains basis information on Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot: basic maps, where to stay, dining & nightlife, sightseeing, culture & events, getting around, shopping, directory. Shortly the brochure is my recommendation. Leave a Comment

I had bought two books on Gdansk before I decided to visit the city: 1. "Gdansk od srodka. Kieszonkowy przewodnik." - Gdansk from the inside. Pocket guidebook. This great, 96-pages, illustrated travel book contains detailed description of a few tourist walks for visitors, each with a good map. Add some practicalities, a few proposals of trips out of the city and a seperate pocket map of Gdansk. 2. "Gdansk oraz Gdynia i Sopot" from the series Dookola Polski - 248 pages full of text and comprehensive information on the Tricity and surrounding area of Poland. It include a lot of practical information but not good maps. Good news: both books are available in most bookstores in Poland and both are not expensive. Bad news: they are published exclusively in Polish language. Leave a Comment
