Pierogarnia U Dzika is apparently regarded as the best place in Gdansk for perogies, and they do indeed have an extensive selection of them. We had a good meal there, but frankly there was nothing special about it because, when you really get down to it, perogies are so basic that there's not much you can do to make them stand out much. Of course it was very cheap and tasty. Also notable is the fast service

I am fully aware that this is a bizarre suggestion - Mexican in Poland? - but my favorite restaurant was the 'Pueblo' Mexican restaurant in Gdynia at ul. Abrahama 56. The staff are friendly, professional and English-speaking, the decor well-done. And the food is closer to authentic Mexican than most places I've tried in the US!

The seafood is fresh and well-prepared, and the service is excellent. Not (by far) the cheapest place, but well worth it.

Pierogi is a light snack, the dumpling are cooked by being boiled. They are quite delicious considering that I expect food here to be quite bland. A plate of 8 would cost you between 8zl to 14zl, depending on where you get them (from little cafes to bars/pubs/restaurants). Leave a Comment

On our day trip to Hel we ate lovely fried fish at two different stalls near the port. I can't remember the names but one is right on the port itself and the other almost directly behind it. Both were excellent - very fresh fish at reasonable prices. We had cod, halibut, turbot and fresh herring, all delicious. The prices refer to the cost per kilo so you can ask for a big or small piece. The chips were fine; the 'salad' was a small pot of sliced pickled cucumber and cabbage but nice enough.
