Portugal is a football crazy country. The 2 main clubs in Portugal are probably Benfica and Porto. My friend Jon bought the Porto shirt while we were there and the locals kept coming up to him in the evening when he wore the shirt to pat him on the back and buy him drinks!!!
Hiking by the sea
There's enough to walk if you're into this type of past-time: only in Albufeira there are 23 kilometres of beaches. You can walk along them and also walk stretches on a coastal walk: the paths lead you over promontories and take you from one beach to the other. It's also the best way to admire the rock formations: caves, arches, pinnacles! You could also stop for a swim here and there - which we didn't do. Believe me: the water in February is pretty cold? chilly actually.
Equipment: comfortable walking shoes - hiking boots would actually be better. A swimsuit if you want to stop for a swim, and a towel. Don't worry about water: on the beaches there's often a small bar that sells drinks and food.
This is my favourite team in Portugal and also my friends Vitor's so I'm sure we'll see a game together over a few beers someday.
- Beer Tasting
As you can see on the picture, waves ar big enough for surfing. Many young men from Albufeira and some tourists are waiting for the next wave...
