Alvor Nightlife

There is a small bar just up from the harbour not on the main street but as the road forks to the left, its really easy to miss as it is really small, about the size of someones living room. We found it was a good place to chill out without all the blary chart music and karaoke that dominates most bars on the main street, the owner even had a really good itunes library!It a had a really cosy feel but because it was so small you could sit at your table and watch all the people going by through the open doors. It also had some really beautiful tiled pictures of don quixote. A Bit different from most of the other places, a more individual feel for those who don't want to feel like they're in a pub back home.

There is a little square next to a church at the top of the hill i think it is where rua cabral and marques de pombal meet and this seems to be where most of the locals enjoy a relaxing drink. Its nice to just chill out with a bottle of superbock or a glass of planlato and watch the world go by!

Paddys bar always looks lively although the only time i have been in it was pretty quiet with Football on 2 TV's (different matches) and only a couple of people in (one of them was constantly swearing at the tv). Most interesting thing was the fish tank/pond which is on the first floor and has a glass bottom so you can look up through it from downstairs.

i have been informed by a VT member (joleo ) who seemed to join just to inform me that
"Paddys Bar is excellent with karaoke most nights from 10pm. The staff are extremely friendly and Jason who does karaoke is the best. Had brill nights in Paddys would recommend to anyone." and i am sure it is and i promise to visit it a couple of times later in the year for the karaoke and a good night out.

The Venue is Advertised as Alvor's premier night spot, They have live Music everynight (usually tribute acts) If you like football (as all Portuguese do) then most Live international and English premiership matches are presented on a Large screen. Drinks are reasonable and staff friendly. The pictures and Video show Carlos who is the Buddy Holly tribute act but he sings a wide range of songs and in the video he is singing a portugese song called Casa Portugesa (portugese House) Video It really is worth a visit at least once during your stay, there are advertisments all over with which acts are on on which days.

The Tucano bar is the main Bar / Entertainment area of The Pestana Delfim Hotel
and is situated down the stairs. This is where the Pestana Entertainment team put on the shows and were other entertainment like music, dancing and of course drinking takes place.
Anybody can go in, you do not have to be a resident at the hotel and entertainment programs can be found in the reception.

At nights the Hotel Delfim has entertainment from singers and musicians to the hotels entertainment team putting on a cabaret. anybody can go, it;s not fantastic but it's ok

This place is great!! The second time I went back, I spent every night in here. The people are great - Paddy, the owner, is a little crazy, but hilarious when drunk!! Seamie, the very talented musician is lots of fun, but watch out, he is good at taking the rip out of people - he gives as good as he gets!! Fernando, the very handsome barman is a great dancer, but you will be very lucky if you can get him up for a dance!

All in all, I love this place, but it is the people that make it - as always. It would never be the same if any of them were to leave!!

OK, I just love this place!! I can already picture myself, a week and a half from now, sitting on the balcony at Paddy's with a nice cool beer after a full day of travelling!! 10pm in the evening, waiting for Seamie to start (he is the live music by the way - and absolutely hilarious!!) The bar staff are friendly and one of the reasons I am going back so soon! The bar itself is tiny, which lends it a very cosy atmosphere. I am a pub person and visited quite a few in Alvor, but this remains my favourite and I can't wait to get back!!
