This is the largest supermarket in Alvor and has a large range of local and imported produce.
It' has a good selection of fresh vegetables, cooked meats, cheese, wine, beer and some nice fresh bread and cakes.
Front door is on the main road (estrada do Alvor) but the carpark is at the rear, at the side of the Kashmir Indian restaurant and Venue night spot.

This was the smaller of the 2 Alisuper's in town but has now been bought by another chain and is called Orange. It is situated in the Torralto complex (just near the Pestana Atlantic Hotel)
It does not have quite the range of the other of the Alisuper and is more expensive on some things.

There is a reasonable size supermarket (alisuper) in alvor if you prefer brands but the local market is really good value for money and the fresh fruit and vegetables are good quality and there's a decent selection. There are also a couple of mini-market type shops which are reasonably priced. If you are self catering buy a bottle of the planalto wine or a miniture medrehno to try, we also bought the fig cake and sardine pate for which the area is well known.

As in every sea side town most of the gift shops sell Sea Shells of different shapes and sizes and Alvor is no exception, but This shop has probably the best collection of shells and semi-precious stones that i have seen on the Algarve. You can buy anything from a key ring to a large ornament that will certainly have your visitors talking. You don't have to buy anything though, it's just one of those shops thats nice to have a look around and children love it.
What to buy: Nice sea shells and polished stones.
What to pay: anything from .50c to E300

Last year this shop was a Chinese Restaurant, now it sells a wide range of items including toys, handicraft items, fishing equipment, and jewellery (as well as all the components to make your own) at very low prices, some real bargains can be found.
You will not come out of here without buying something.

In Alvor, there are loads of little shops dotted around all over the place, although most of them are tourist based. You can get everything from jewellary, clothes, bags and paintings to chinese silk, olive dishes and of course - port.
I was actually quite surprised to see a shop called 'Hong Kong Shopping' - but some of the things inside are amazing. Proper chinese silk dresses, samurai swords and even beach towels!!
My mum loves to wander around these shops, so when we went the first time, we had a good old trawl through them. When I went on my own in November, I don't think I even looked in one!! Now I am regretting it of course as I have just bought a new house and could have done with some olive dishes!!
