Have only been in the evenings so couldn't comment on what it's like during the day, but I can't see it being anything but great!

Alvor Tourist Traps

  • averageyorkshirejoe's Profile Photo

by averageyorkshirejoe Written Aug 21, 2008

There are some reataurants on the beach down near the rocks which have the most amazing views at sunset and are a really special place to go but we were a little disappointed. The food was more expensive than in town which is to be expected as you're paying for the ambience as well, but the quality of the food is far less than many of the others in town and the service is only ok. They seem to be too busy to really look after you sincerely and seemed geared towards guests from the nearby beachfront hotels. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but it was definately a case of hype/reputation over reality

Unique Suggestions: If you do really want to go just enjoy the view and accept the food but i think there are far better places to try

Alvor What to Pack

  • Don't forget the mozzy spray!

Toward the middle of june all the mozzys or some type of fly hatch and they can be a little bit of a pain so remember to get some repellent and for a couple of days eat inside the restaurants, as they seem to be worse at dusk. I don't get bitten but it was a nuisance when they wanted to share my food because i won't even do that with my husband!!
