East end
solopes Says:
The eastern end of the town (not of the beach, that continues for several kilometers until Galé) is the best to families with small kids. There are no stairs to reach the beach, that is shallow and quiet. Some private houses to rent in this area of town make it easier to...
West end
solopes Says:
The western end of the beach is its most beautiful area. The wild rocks compose strange formations and become a sort of amusement park for kids. The only problem is being a little far from town, and, in the heat of the day, you'd better take your car, but parking is the...
Main Beach
solopes Says:
The long stripe of fine sand, lining the hotels and apartment buildings, are the core zone of this popular beach. The commercial concessions fill the area, and you are "invited" to book a canopy or chairs, but there's free space to everybody, if you refuse to spend money in...
Fisherman's beach
solopes Says:
The beach in Armação de Pera is long, with several accesses descending the cliffs, not to high, but, in the central area, high enough to become uncomfortable, specially with children. When our kids were small, we spent there three successive summers, renting a home in the...
A beach holiday!
jeli Says:
We went to Armacao De Pera in August and pretty much stayed on the beach everyday. The beach is apparently one of the longest in the Algarve and there are plenty of loungers to use.We stayed near the West side where there are rocks and caves to explore and tends to be less...

Casa de Pasto ARMACENESE: Where the working men are satisfied
wbuese Says:
For low prices go get simple but fresh food. It is situated in the so called "3 rd Row" (R.Bartolomeu Dias, 32). It is a favorit for the workers for lunch and for residents in the evenings. Very simple but clean ambience. The chief in the kitchen and his wife for serving the...
Don't miss Raj! So good we went there twice!
jeli Says:
I think there are only 2 Indian Resturants in Armacao De Pera. We stayed at the Hotel Garbe where Raj is so we went to that one and it was highly recommended by a friend. He was not wrong. The ambience is lovely, with huge mirrored skylights and if you want to eat out on the...
Traviata, Traviata 2 and Gabi' s Pizzeria: Good Italian restaurants!
jeli Says:
We went to these restaurants as we were not too impressed with the Portuguese seafood from Borders Restaurant and Hera Restaurant. I am shocked at how expensive seafood is in a lot of the restaurants in Armacao De Pera. Both restaurants make delicious pizzas, eat in or...
Best restaurant in Armacao De Pera! A hidden gem!
jeli Says:
Restaurant Calixtos is off the beaten path at the start of the beach by the caves. It is easier to get to if you go before it gets dark, about 7pm and walk along the beach. The walk back to the street is dusty and undefined but well worth the trip! The restaurant has a...
Santola Restaurant: This restaurant almost ruined my holiday!
jeli Says:
We went to this restaurant the last night of our hoilday and it almost ruined our trip as the waiters were so rude and the food was atrocious! The restaurant is recommended in the free maps that are available in the hotels and outside restaurants, which states that Santola is...
chinese shop Chen Lei Jing: Never buy in chinese shops in Armacao!!!!
address: Rua manuel Arriaga, 65 - the pedestrian zone on your way to Fishermen's Beach
unless you want to feel like a looser - do not buy anything there.
I did a huge mistake and bought a ball for a kid. The amount was not that huge - 8 euros, but in 10 days the laces were undone, we left armacao for a week to see friends in Austria, then got back to Armacao. on the way to the beach I went to this shop.
The shop assistant (apparently part of the owners' family) said arrogantly "no change of the bad quality good cause purchase was done 18 days ago". full stop. When I insisted referring to all EU rules on quality - she called the police!!!! They told me to buy a new ball if I am not happy with the quality (whispering an advice to do it in another shop) and stop all this quality discussion cause that is not a big amount for me and the whole topic is out of their competence.
To say I was shocked = to say nothing. All discussions went in front of my 9 years old kid. How can I ask him to be fair in life after he saw it leads to dead-end and waste of time and money?
To make the long story short: buy sports goods somewhere else, the further from that place - the better.
Good luck with your travel.
