Cabanas Restaurants

  • by Parafix Written Mar 31, 2012

Authentic portuguese restaurant, run by husband an wife, who are always very nice and friendly! Don't be misled by the TL light and plastic tables outside, the food is great. Have conquilas or ameijoas as a starten, they are really the best you can get in the Algarve! They have different Algarvian specialities as the Cataplana, steak casa, prawns, local fish,... If you want the cataplana, make sure to order it the day before (2 pax)! Definitely a must go in Cabanas!

    Favorite Dish: Cataplana, steak casa

Great , new place , a little hard to find, but just keep looking for the church right in the centre of the village, where the old meets the new. We persevered after reading other reviews about this place. We weren´t disappointed.
Clean, simply decorated with very friendly owners. Fernando the owner, who took our order was quite a character and Jill who does all the cooking, also came and chatted with us when she´d finished.
All in all a little hidden away gem, so glad we looked it up

Favorite Dish: I had the local red snapper which was baked in the oven with garlic and olive and coriander. also on our table was eaten a vegetarian curry from the several vegetarian dishes available, a great pork normandie and a grilled mackeral with a ginger and chilli dressing. Tasty !
Leave room for the puds made on the premises by the self appointed "sweettooth" herself - the chef ! A cold cream pie to die for !

Fernando and Jill have moved up to Quinta de Gomeira within the past couple of years.
It is a little bit further away from the front now, but the road has opened up north of their old place ( Casa Algarve) which leads you right to their new place. It is now nearer to the Pedras de Rainha complex where we stayed.
We also noticed they had posted an ad on the lamp post outside their old place directing people ( good idea)
A brand, spanking, new place, with a terrace outside to enjoy the warm weather, perfectly safe for the kids to play around .
    Absolutely spotless bathrooms!!

Favorite Dish: We went for the vegetarian dishes for my wife and the great kids menu.
We were all satisfied, the dishes of the day are very tasty, I had a grilled mackeral with a spicy chilli dressing, the wife had a Tortellini dish.
Kids were very happy with their own menu, wanting to return to try the other things on it.
All in all a great experience, we returned several times during our stay and shall put it on our things to do list next year.
