The people ,were very good to us and patient. Considering we speak no Portuguese at all apart from the odd phrase. they just know you are English and before you get a chance to speak,they are speaking English to you. Nothing was too much trouble and they were never rushed, such a relaxing time to be had by all ,in Lagos. If you are looking for a place with good restaurants good weather, laid back beaches then this is for you. Leave a Comment

This is one door in the city walls. Inside is the old historical town, outside is the modern Lagos and the large amount of beaches around the city.
Built under kings Manuel I and João III (16th century) on former building sites, these walls surrounded the whole city. Apart from the section overlooking the sea, there are still other pieces, with defense bastions, on the inside area of the city. On one wall is the famous Manuelino-style window from where king D. Sebastião is said to have attended an open-air celebration of Mass before leaving for Alcácer-Quibir. Leave a Comment

Meia Praia means "Half Beach". It is located about three kilometers northeast of Lagos and is perhaps the reason why most tourists come to Lagos. However, it is not over-crowded by tourists. You have enough space to sunbath or to build a sand castle. Leave a Comment
