Beware! Looks the part, but that's about as good as it gets at the Millenium Jardim. Shoddy service, very slow, rude, couldn't care less about the customer. To make matters worse, when the food does eventually arrive it is pretty damn poor quality fare. There are so many good places to eat in Lagos, and so many nice people looking to send diners away happy. So please do yourself a favour and give the Millenium Jardim a wide berth...I wish we had!

It's an OK place. I'd have preferred Mexican, but hey ho. The best thing about the place is the ocean view. On the first floor there a great table by the window, and there's several more upstairs with vistas of Meia Praia. The food we had was unnecessarily fussy. This isn't unusual in Lagos. A lot of smart places just try too hard. Rachel had the veg dish. This was, well, veg. Albeit in a cheese sauce. I don't think they like people ordering the veg dish. Not that it was bad. It was good. But good for EUR4, not for EUR11. That was just taking the pssi. The staff were also strangely up themselves. Perhaps deluded that they were working in a fine establishment offering haute cuisine. Despite the experience and the food, we were in a good mood. We left a generous tip, but immediately regretted it as our waiter rudely grunted us off the premises. The guy who runs Lounge bar used to own the Mexican that Navegador used to be. Mr Lounge man! Buy it back!
I ordered the Portuguese style steak. Apparently the Portuguese like ther steak steeped in vinegar. I don't believe this. Sprinkled with perhaps, but not steeped in. Unlike the veggie dish though, it was fairly priced. No patio in Lagos is an English influenced bistro. This is reflected by the prices (rather higher than most other restaurants) and the clientele. The menu is an eclectic mixture of tastes, some Portugese inflenced, others less so. The food was very well cooked and presented, and the service excellent. It does get very busy - you will need to book

We have spent a total of 4 weeks in Lagos, eating out every night, this was by far the worst, particularly in respect of the service we received. When we arrived the restaurant was half full, we ordered up, included in our order was a side of fries, nothing much to worry about or so you would think. Our food took nearly fifty minutes to arrive, whilst we appreciate things may take a while if the food is fresh nearly a hour is not acceptable, also my sons meal arrived without the fries as ordered. We pointed this out to the waiter and it then took a further twenty minutes plus two more reminders for the fries to arrived. We had a mixed variety of dishes, fish meat etc and none was anything at all to write home about. Simply not a patch on any of the other places we visited.
None, all mediocre and poor service. Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Near Mullens

O CANTINHO DO PORT ALBA What can I say? This is a real find. The place is so good we went three times. Had we stayed longer we would have went again. The food is tremendous. It is a mixture of Portugeuse and International dishes, some of which you won't see in any other restaurant in Lagos. "Alba bu Grath" - this is strips of tender rump steak in a drambuie and mushroom cream served with saffron rice - mmmm. The swordfish is cooked to perfection. It is not overdone like a lot of places. The prawns and chicken dishes are terrific. For all the ladies and the sweet toothed men have the chocolate mousse with baileys, dreamy! The prices are very good and the restaurant has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The owners Iain and Isabelle are extremely friendly as is Adrianne (the wonderful Romanian waiter)! My sis and I are going back to Lagos in October and this will be our first port of call. If you go up the Rua Candidho dos Reis (Mullens is on your right hand side) take the first right turn after this and you will see a sign just a few metres up the street on the right hand side. (It is on the Rua Luis de azevedo) Bueno appetito!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Tell Iain, Isabelle and Adrianne that you seen this review on the website) Their telephone number is 96 969 1814.

You will be surprised to find a restaurant of this quality in sleepy old Bensafrim. Friendly Portugese/Australian husband and wife team prepare great food with real fresh VEG!! Chicken, steak, salmon and pork dishes come with great salads, nice veg or chips. The restaurant is a bit hidden away, but it is worth the trip out from Lagos and the prices are very reasonable. Our children were welcomed and really enjoyed their meals.
I have been to O'Koala three times and have not been disappointed. I have had a pefectly cooked steak with all the trimmings, pork medallions in a sauce, and grilled chicken with chips. The portions are big as well. Great! i took my family to the vaca in the algarve for dinner.when the salad and fondue arived i saw somthing crawling in the salad , i was disgustedby this, so i confronted the maneger ( sharmaine) . she was extreamly rude to me and after i pointed it out in my salad she visiously grabed it out of my hands and stormed of with it . we began to taste the fondue but it had a bitter taste to it and was curdeled she sent a waiter over i informed the waiter it tasted off (i know how it should taste as my aunt lived in switzerland for many years and often cooked it for me ) the manager came over again , swearing in swiss i belive.when we got up to leave she demanded we pay the bill "even for the salad" or she would call the police.my daughter later informed me that when she went to the toilet it smelt of urine and there was raw sewage on the toilet seat. worst night of my holiday !!!!!!!!! avoid being upset on your holiday in the beautiful algarve, DONT EAT AT THE VACA

I thought the food in Lagos was very good, and its amazing at how many different kinds of restaurants there are.. Just be aware, like in any town that the prices are at least double on the main pedestrian street than just a block away. Leave a Comment Theme: Local
