We found this restaurant on our second week and what a find it was:
The service was excellent, the food was fresh and cooked to perfection. there was nothing I could fault this place and their staff for,the ambiance was very good and the staff seemed genuine in their approach to making your stay a good one.
The layout is simple but modern and comfortable and we never felt rushed by staff at anytime.
It really was a great restaurant to eat in with a warm friendly welcome.
Favorite Dish: Sirloin Steak with mushroom sauce cooked to perfection.

We have just been to Lagos for a weekend from Sevilla and we had one of the best steaks in our life at the Don Toro Angus Steak House in Lagos. Steaks where so tender and juicy we had to write a note. The friendly owner told us that the meat is specially selected, always cut fresh on the moment of the order (like in a butchery) and grilled to your taste. No surprise that while most restaurants in Lagos where empty, Don Toro was full. Well, there is nothing better than a good steak and Don Toro was the highlite of the rainy weekend....

The man who owns this restaurant is very friendly and welcoming. In Portugal before you order your meal, you get what I believe is reffered to as Couvert or something along those lines. At Gilberto's the Couvert is enough to fill you up on its own. Olives, bread, pate's and a large piece of local cheese. We went to Gilberto's twice (we ate there on our last night because it was the best restaurant we had tried all week. The first time we had the traditional Portuguese fish stew which between the two of us contained no less than 10 fish steaks. We couldn't finish it all but it was amazing. The second time my husband had the portuguese steak and I had the pork with clams. Both meals were spectacular. You would not necessarily know the quality of this restaurant from its appearance. Most of the menu is handwritten, there are pictures of the food on the wall, and Gilberto has wallpapered the outside with hand drawn pictures and descriptions of the food. It put some people off, but thankfully not us. Many people bypassed this restaurant while we were eating and ate in the mediochre and expensive restaurant next door. On our last night Gilberto gave us a free glass of port on the house, and he also makes the best Sangria in town. Five stars, if I ever go back to Lagos, Gilberto's will be my first port of call.
Favorite Dish: The pork with clams. This consists of diced porks, with clams in their shells and cubed fried potatos drenched in lemon juice and seasoning garnished with pickled vegetables. I've tried to make it at home since, but sadly it is not the same!

This lovely Restaurant is definitely one of the best in Lagos and is well worth a visit even if only for a snack.
Service and food are excellent and i had the most fantastic sardines.
Tanks inside have live seafood and the décor is lovely. While being a very stylish restaurant it is really reasonable and not to expensive at all.
If you do visit this restaurant have a look around, the toilets are down the stairs at the rear and there is a lovely wine cellar visible through a gate. The whole place is lovely and a great experience.
Favorite Dish: The Sardines were lovely but would like to go through the menu.

Anyone who visits portugal nowadays, comes over with the heart set on trying the so talked about grilled sardines with spuds and salad. Well, You should try other portuguese traditional dishes. Some people are not mad about dried cod, but if you tried the ''Bacalhau a gomes de sa'' you'd love it! Its basicly cod in the oven with sliced fried potatoes, onions and sliced boiled egg, parsley, black olives, and drizzled with a generous amount of olive oil.
Another dish you should try is ''Cozido a portuguesa'' Portuguese stew. Traditionally eaten on sundays, this dish requires some days of antecipation. Pork meat, beef brisket, chicken, belly pork, linguica (a kind of rough salami sausage), portuguese black pudding, its all the meat used on the stew. the pork meat is previously salted, as pork is quite sweet if it doesnt have a reasonable amount of seasoning. In another pot, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, swede and other vegetables are cooked in a meat stock. The meat is then cut in generous bits, and served with the vegetables. this resembles a very peasant like dinner but believe me you will come back for more!
The home made bread coming out of the oven with some proper butter is also delicious. the olives, ''migas'' (a porridge made of stale bread with garlic, olive oil and some herbs), fried spare ribs marinated in bell pepper paste, fried eels with tomato rice. Portuguese egg custard puff pastry tarts... These are only some of the specialties you can explore! And at a reasonable price in most of the traditional restaurants out there, between £15 and £20 for two! that includes wine and all the starters. I just hope you fit in the plane when you come back home ;)

We have spent a total of 4 weeks in Lagos, eating out every night, this was by far the worst, particularly in respect of the service we received. When we arrived the restaurant was half full, we ordered up, included in our order was a side of fries, nothing much to worry about or so you would think. Our food took nearly fifty minutes to arrive, whilst we appreciate things may take a while if the food is fresh nearly a hour is not acceptable, also my sons meal arrived without the fries as ordered. We pointed this out to the waiter and it then took a further twenty minutes plus two more reminders for the fries to arrived. We had a mixed variety of dishes, fish meat etc and none was anything at all to write home about. Simply not a patch on any of the other places we visited.
Favorite Dish: None, all mediocre and poor service.

This is a very basic Portugese restaurant just up from Praia Dona Ana. It doesn't look too great from the outside, but the steaks are something else! They do the most amazing kebabs, too, and you get vast portions of food at a very reasonable price.
You will even get a bottle of dessert wine to keep you company free of charge while you are paying your bill!
Favorite Dish: Any steak will be cooked to perfection, but try the Brazilian style.
