They did have a freezer case with whole fish on ice as the business card claims 'Excelente seleccao de Peixe Fresco. There was more of a local establishment with a very casual atmosphere. Football and news was on the TV in the background. Nice half bottles of wine and good simple food.
Favorite Dish: I actually really loved the chicken piri piri! It was mainly seafood restaurant and I rarely order chicken, but it seemed very appealing. It turned out to be very well seasoned. I also shared some nice garlic calamari. Warning about the calamari is that they come whole and you get a HUGE plate of the little suckers!

Rua 25 de Abril is full of restaurants.
They serve good meat, but remembre that we are in a coast city, their speciallity is the fish and other kind of seafood.
All this combined with a good portugeese fresh white wine could be a religious experience!! ;-P
On egin!! (Enjoy your meal in basque)
Favorite Dish: - Grilled sardines with salad -> 6.5€
- Swordfish with potatoes -> 8.00€
- Cod in olive oil with potatoes cooked in the oven -> 8.00€

What can I say? This is a real find. The place is so good we went three times. Had we stayed longer we would have went again. The food is tremendous. It is a mixture of Portugeuse and International dishes, some of which you won't see in any other restaurant in Lagos. "Alba bu Grath" - this is strips of tender rump steak in a drambuie and mushroom cream served with saffron rice - mmmm. The swordfish is cooked to perfection. It is not overdone like a lot of places. The prawns and chicken dishes are terrific. For all the ladies and the sweet toothed men have the chocolate mousse with baileys, dreamy! The prices are very good and the restaurant has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The owners Iain and Isabelle are extremely friendly as is Adrianne (the wonderful Romanian waiter)!
My sis and I are going back to Lagos in October and this will be our first port of call.
If you go up the Rua Candidho dos Reis (Mullens is on your right hand side) take the first right turn after this and you will see a sign just a few metres up the street on the right hand side. (It is on the Rua Luis de azevedo)
Bueno appetito!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Tell Iain, Isabelle and Adrianne that you seen this review on the website)
Their telephone number is 96 969 1814.
Favorite Dish: Everything is a favourite!

Located in a quiet area. Very kind and dedicated staff. The owner will prepare a flambé (beef or fish) next tot your table. Very reasonable prices. This might be the restaurant in Lagos with the best value for money. We have never been disapointed here. Also very appropriety for lunch.
Favorite Dish: The beef Flambé is absolutely top. Prepared next to your table. Great atmosphere. You may also try the Cataplana (several kinds of seafood, prepared in a copper pan).

i took my family to the vaca in the algarve for dinner.when the salad and fondue arived i saw somthing crawling in the salad , i was disgustedby this, so i confronted the maneger ( sharmaine) . she was extreamly rude to me and after i pointed it out in my salad she visiously grabed it out of my hands and stormed of with it . we began to taste the fondue but it had a bitter taste to it and was curdeled she sent a waiter over i informed the waiter it tasted off (i know how it should taste as my aunt lived in switzerland for many years and often cooked it for me ) the manager came over again , swearing in swiss i belive.when we got up to leave she demanded we pay the bill "even for the salad" or she would call the police.my daughter later informed me that when she went to the toilet it smelt of urine and there was raw sewage on the toilet seat.
worst night of my holiday !!!!!!!!!
avoid being upset on your holiday in the beautiful algarve, DONT EAT AT THE VACA

In this picture you may see one of many places where you may take your meal in the open air. But when I leave the Meia Praia beach I usualy lunch at a small restaurant just in the corner next to the fishmarina, just in front os the railway stop. The grilled fish is splendid fresh.
Favorite Dish: Grilled sardines

You will be surprised to find a restaurant of this quality in sleepy old Bensafrim. Friendly Portugese/Australian husband and wife team prepare great food with real fresh VEG!!
Chicken, steak, salmon and pork dishes come with great salads, nice veg or chips. The restaurant is a bit hidden away, but it is worth the trip out from Lagos and the prices are very reasonable. Our children were welcomed and really enjoyed their meals.
Favorite Dish: I have been to O'Koala three times and have not been disappointed. I have had a pefectly cooked steak with all the trimmings, pork medallions in a sauce, and grilled chicken with chips. The portions are big as well. Great!

This is a really special restaurant, that serves good food, with vegetables. (unknown in many Portugese restaurants.) Meals come with a choice of chips, new potatoes, vegetables or salad. The main courses vary from steak, through to salmon, down to a more basic chicken and chips. Excellent starters. Portions are generous - beware!. It is run by an Portugese/Australian husband and wife team. Prices very reasonable, considering the standard of both the food and the serve. Throughly recommended!
Favorite Dish: Favourite dish was salmon, with new potatoes and salad. Was chargrilled on one side, and beatifully moist. Came with a small bowl of creme fraiche type sauce with chives. Perfect!

I thought the food in Lagos was very good, and its amazing at how many different kinds of restaurants there are.. Just be aware, like in any town that the prices are at least double on the main pedestrian street than just a block away.
