In the shade by kevin36 Watch the Sun as when you get the Atlantic breeze blowing you can get sunburnt very easy Avoid mid day -4pm for walking etc gets very hot. Buy bottled water from the supermarkets. Try and get in the shade from mid day there are shady places even on the beach. Leave a Comment

Choose your parking wisely in Lagos by dlytle Parking is available all along the length of the promenade, and in other areas, but wherever you see a circular sign with the letter 'P' on it, KEEP GOING. The ‘P’ doesn't mean ‘Park’; it means just the opposite - ‘Proibido’ or no parking - and I am sure that you don't really need the hassles that go along with a parking ticket in a foreign country. by Westbrook I'm not really in a position to complain since my trip was massively discounted and included car hire, but anyway .... INT: Lagos airport. Europcar collection. EC "Insurance sir?" WB "Yes, how much?" EC "Only three pounds a day sir." WB [doing sums in head] "Sign me up, that's only 21 pounds for the week!" EC "And remember to bring the car back empty" WB [looking through forms] "it says here that insurance is 8 Euros a day! EC "yes, but your deal is for the cheaper price" WB "Ahh, OK. Did you say empty" EC "Yes, for the best deal, bring the car back empty" WB "marvellous. Thank you" 7 DAYS LATER ... INT: Lagos Airport. Europcar collection. EC "Hello Westbrook, that will be EUR 50 for the insurance and EUR 50 for the fuel" WB: "Erm... don't think so." Europcar! No! Six Euros a day plus twenty per cent VAT is not three pounds a day! Cheeky fcukers! And a tank of fuel in a 206 costs about thirty-five Euros. Not Fifty! Thieving batsards! Eventually we got fair prices from them, but .... Never trust a car rental company. They lie like rugs! Leave a Comment

We booked 2 trips through the central tourist office, both times we were left with no trip, we were refunded but wasted a whole day waiting for buses. If you are going to book, try and do it through your hotel. Leave a Comment

We were approached by a big gangster looking fella who sold us realistic looking and smelling wax. The stuff looks and smells like hashish, but is easy to snap. We lost 40 euros on that! I blame it on being 18 and a newbie traveller. Walk away if someone approaches you.
