Absolutely nobody drinks the water throughout the Algarve. This includes people that live in Portugal. It won't make you sick, so you are fine to continue brushing your teeth with it. It just tastes pretty bad. You can purchase large bottles of water pretty cheap OUTSIDE of the resort area (never buy at the hotel, so expensive!)
