Outside under the arcades of the market-hall (side to the river). only outside, shady places, exellent, friendly and quick staff. Ambience sinple but enough. Lot of different nations. If you want you can get into contact very soon. A very interseting atmosphere !
Favorite Dish: Chicken, chicken (normal on barbeque) ore with pri-piri(with a shot of hot-pepper) with salads of the season (lettuce/tomatoes,onions), fresh tasteful bread. Added with olives, sardine-pastry and goat-cheese. All sorts of driks

I stopped off here for lunch after visiting the sights of Silves and had a nice bifana - a Portuguese hot pork steak sandwich and chips (€2.75). Other dishes include baguettes (€2.45), hamburgers (€2.45-€2.85), salads (€3.75), omelettes (€4.50), toasts (€1.65-€2.55) and they even do an English breakfast for €5.

Despite being Inland this is definatly one of the Algarve's best seafood restaurants. It is very popular with locals and tourists so you will have to get there early to guarantee a table at busy times of the year and and in the evenings more or less all year.
Favorite Dish: Grilled Sardines are fantastic.

We've been coming to the Algarve for many years. The O Alambique is without a doubt the best restaurant we've found! The owner/chef Marlen opened it over nine years ago. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Winter nights with log fire, summer on the terrace. Sometimes we are lucky and catch one of those special events with live music and BBQ.
Favorite Dish: The food is all home made. Don't miss out on the 'Cover'. The two different kinds of fresh bread are delicious! With a weekly changing special menu it is always difficult to choose. The hake with almond crust, lamb tenderloin with rosemary sauce, scallops, home made pasta,...you'll just have to come back over and over and over again. Leave some room for dessert as well! Home made ice cream (Toffee is my favourite!), chocolate mousse, cocnut Meringue with cherries... definitely heaven!

If i am in Silves this is the usual place i go to eat. Lovely decour and good service here but what makes it a must for me is the chicken Piri Piri. definatly the best around and plenty of it. it's also one of the only places i have been in that you actually get a full fresh cheese with the Couvert. Delicious.
Favorite Dish: Chicken Piri Piri

The villages in this area have no restaurants just some little bars and cafes. However, if a tour bus is visiting as it does in Alte twice a week - the locals set up some tables and chairs in their gardens or on the street then light a barbeque. The smell of the food will tempt you to stop by and sample some fresh fish or Chicken Piri Piri. Once on a drive we stopped by a garage complete with nice tables and yummy food.
Favorite Dish: Whatever is sold in the morning market is cooked for lunch or dinner. The fish dishes are exceptional and the chicken piri piri = well that's hot = but also scrummy

Below the stairs to the Cathedral and the Moorish castle you find this nice reaturant. You can sit outside under the trees and wonderful panoramic views or inside in a great atmosphere . We had (as you can see on the pic) a wonderful lunch there.

Next to the cathedral and down the castle is this café. You can eat there or just have a drink after walking around the castle. First we wanted to seat outside but all tables with shadow were reserved for dinners, so we enter inside that was very pleasant.

I was totally fed-up with fish food and wanted something else. As I read the tip from Lonely planet, this sounded just convenient for that purpose. The place serves house-made burgers, which were fine. As well, it serves house-made pasta and cakes, which I didn't try.
Favorite Dish: Burger with chips and salsa.
