Silves' location makes it an ideal hub for mini-excursions.
There is a bus station cum information centre in the Old Town, just off the main road. Here you can pick up timings for the various buses to several keys places, eg Lagoa, Portimao, both located south.
From Portimao you could head West towards Lagos, Salema, Sagres.
Or from Portimao/Lagoa you could head East towards Albufeira, Faro, etc.
Equally, from Silves, you can get the coach to Lisboa, the capital!
