3 kings hat
It was the 6th December that in Spain in bank holiday as the 3 wise kings bring the presents to the kids. As a catholic country they still may do celebrations, but it was a working day (I guess Santa Claus or father Christmas are more popular there).
This group of Children were visiting the local spots as the castle and churches with the teachers, a nice brunch, that behave very well!
I wonder if any Portuguese could tell me if this tradition of the hats is normal…
Everybody is relaxing - "Floppy" is taking a big nap, Floppy's friend is dancing in a festival, a girl is so happily running around with an ice-cream in her hand. Animals are loved and are treated like humans. Little girls stay awake late to enjoy their "night" life!
Browsing the outskirts of town I found a group of men producing salt by the traditional ways.
It was nice to see (southeast of the city, closer to the sea), but with such a hard work I don't know if they can match the market's price for long.
- Arts and Culture
Most people don't know it before coming to Tavira but this region is specially devoted to the octopus fishery. Santa Luzia, a small fishermen's village, is the capital of octopus. It has the largest octopus market of Portugal.
A few years ago, when almost every man of Santa Luzia lived from the fishery, it was common to see many boats in the estuary. Nowadays, only a few people live from this work and most of the fishery is done by bigger boats. However, it's still possible to see many things from the big tumes of octopus fishery in Santa Luzia.
Besides that, there are plenty of restaurants where you can eat octopus in many manners. It's very delicious.
A nice pair of knockers
The doors in the old town have little brass knockers in the shape of hands. i was very tempted to knock on one of the doors.
