for a great amount of years and during summer months the prices ( all kinds,shops,restaurants,cofee shops...)suffers great "inflationability"

must say thou' , nowadays it's not like that .
yet, there are still, some tourist traps to take care, and what you have to do is simply look out for the various offers and choose the one that suits you fine.

Restaurant with two categories!

When we were in Praia da Luz we saw this restaurant and the ambience looked very nice. So we decided next evening to have dinner here.

Although a lot of tables were free in the nice front hall, we waiter / owner guided us to a second room, which had no ambient and looked like the tourist class room.

First we thought: "ok, the tables in the big room are all reservated", but then we saw that all the tables were not allocated the whole evening. And the food was not good either!!!

On the Algarve coast there is a large programme to build new marinas this has been going on for a few years now and will no doubt continue for a few more .They are being built with the money that us the tourist has ploughed into this area,they do not represent any traditional feel of the region whatsoever their restauraunts and shops are expensive and look like a thousand others that i have seen in Europe

Get yourself down to the praia(beach)and sample some real Algarvian hospitality with good food and drink at half the price

We stayed at the hotel Alcazar easter 2006 and brought very few euros out with the mind to change sterling when we got there however all i can really say is DO NOT EXCHANGE MONEY AT THIS OR ANY OTHER HOTEL in this resort .We only got 1.30 euros to the Pound,when the rate was 1.47 ,we went to another nearby resort and got 1.42 euros to the pound.
We later found out that all the hotels had decided they would put the same flat rate of exchange as each other all season ,it is worth crossing over to spain to get a better rate or even using your plastic you were getting better value
