Forum Aveiro: The Mall with a Garden
Forum Aveiro is a very large and modern shopping mall tucked right in the middle of the city. It is located on Rua Homem Cristo, a partially pedestrianized street that goes along with Canal do Cojo. From the station, follow Avenida and make a left at Avenida 5 de Outubro, where you will see the canal in front. Cross the bridget here, make a right turn, then you will see a huge brown structure with an underground parking lot. This is Forum Aveiro, the main shopping place of the city.
It is truly a bustling place. You will see a lot of student population making a pit stop at food court or shopping. You will see a lot of local Aveiro citizens who are there to enjoy the day. You will also see many tourists who want to take a glance at the mall or to have some snacks. There is a garden on the very top floor, where you can see Canal do Cojo and enjoy a nice wind breeze. The view may not be the best, but is good enough. The mall has the back entrance from Rua Batalhão Caçadores as well.
You can also watch a movie at the Cinemas Lusomundo located here in the mall.
What to buy: The mall has all kinds of clothes like any other shopping center. So what you should buy is up to you!

All around Aveiro: Ovos Moles (Egg Pastries)
What to buy: Usually the best souvenir is food. And by food, I mean the regional gastronomy. Lisbon has Pasteis de Nata from the Belém area, and Óbidos has a sweet cherry-flavored liquor called Ginjal. What does Aveiro have? Well, it is sort of similar to Pasteis de Nata, but only its base ingridient. Aveiro has its own egg pastries called Ovos Moles, snack-like cover with the egg yolk inside. It is pretty sweet, but tastes quite good.
You can get them from all around the city. I got mine at a street vendor that were nicely wrapped in a box. But if you buy Ovos Moles from gastronomy shops, you can get them in a wooden "jar" that has a small painting of a regional tradition on the surface. Regardless of where you buy and how much you pay, there is no better or worse taste. They taste the same, so if you see any place that seels Ovos Moles, chip your money in!
What to pay: I paid 3,50 euros for one box of Ovos Moles. But if you are getting them with the wooden jar, expect to pay a few euros more.
