It's referred everywhere as the most remarkable point of Castelo Branco. That's why, passing there, we couldn't stop without seeing it.
It's a nice small baroque garden, easy to visit, and... deserves your stop.

In Portugal we use to say that "one image speaks more than 1000 words". Having that in mind, and more than 1000 pictures to post, I decided to change my behaviour, posting the pictures as soon as they are ready, and adding the comments later.
Don't get mad on me - I'm glad to share my pictures with you, and the comments will be added soon.

The Garden of the Episcopal Paco of Castelo Branco shows as one of the most original units of the baroque in Portugal. In special in that it respects to the legal one: to the symbolic aspects and the disposal of its elements in thematic passages. It was the Bishop of Guarda, D. Joao de Mendonca (1711-1736) that it ordered and probably guided the workmanships of the Garden.

The church of S. Miguel, retraces probably to séc. XIII or séc. XIV, that very it was ruined in the last quarter of séc. XVII. Due to scarcity of half making a monumental workmanship, it was D. Martim Alfonso de Melo, Bishop of Guarda, that rebuilt it in the last quarter of century XVII, paying most of the expenditures.
Really beautifull!

Built by the Templários, probably between 1214 and 1230. You'll have a fantastic view all over the city. The day was hot and sunny! :)
