Meimoa is a nice little town. The main highlight might be the river beach with a bar and a soccer field. There is also a beautiful medieval bridge built over an old roman one.

Meimoa must have been important during roman times but now there are no longer any monuments remaining from those times. The name of the village can be of Muslim origin though.

Built in the XVI century it has a wonderful manueline entrance. It is in this church bell that every death in the city is announced. The city was part of an institution “Misericórdia” built to help the poor and sick.
