Marques de Marialva: A "must" in the Coimbra area
If you decide to go to Coimbra, there is a "must see" or better to say "must eat at" in the little town of Cantanhede, 20 min. north-west by car from Coimbra. It is called "Marques de Marialva". Their menue for lunch is at 29 Euros which for Portugal is quite expensive, but it is worth it. Especially the "Entrada" is something you should have seen(!) and eaten from.I recommend you go for lunch and not for dinner as you will feel so full, that it will be difficult to sleep afterwards.Adventage is also, that after lunch you can go to the Adega Cooperativa in Cantanhede to buy "Bairrada" wine and their old brandy, which is from year 2000 presently and sells for 14 Euros the bottle. An ideal gift. Unfortunately there is no wine tasting at the adega. Entering Cantanhede, there are signs to the restaurant. Besidwes that, everyone knows this place as well as the adega.Enjoy your trip.
