Favorite thing: Men and women pick up olives in early November but only men are able to take off large plates of cork from the cork oaks at the end of Spring .
Fondest memory: Never leave Escoural without eating some bread , lamb stew "ensopado",and chiken pie with some olives and red wine from this region of Alentejo.

Favorite thing: town's entrance coming from Alcaçovas. An old man told me a story from when he had to put the fish back into the water after it had jumped out of the fountain.

Favorite thing: At the town's entry coming from Alcaçovas. As the majority of people living here are already at an point where they have to rest a lot, you'll find lots of street benches all around the town.

Santiago do Escoural is a small town 30 minutes from Evora. On the road you're always passing the Wine Rote of the Aletejo which spread all around thiese areas that have kms and kms of vinyards....
Sheepbells can be listened to from early morning till sunset. There is always a rumour of animals (lambs, cows, or dogs's barks) comming up to you . Suddenly a cry of a bird crosses the air getting......
