Patio de Salema 1
Favorite thing: The building on the left side of the picture is an old movie theatre closed almost 30 years ago. Never had any renovation after and now is being used by bats only. Its a shame and pity that builing such as these one are treated as garbage and are kept empty with the passing of the years. Evora lacks more cultural things ans spots. In Evora theres a problem with the cinema industry. Everybody doesnt understand why theres only one single movie theatre for the whole city when everyday the roms are full. Isn't this enough to the actual governement come up with a new project to put more that 2 cinema rooms in the town? everyweek you have one of the rooms chaging movie and its always a fresh one, but its not too much. This here is the perfect spot to uild a new teather.
Evora has more than 7000 university students that need more actoin and more cultural that the current one. BY the way the whole city has 45.000 citizens.
On the right side ou have the old recreation association Joaquim Antonio de Aguir where you can play cards, billard, snooker, drink som beers, listening to some concerts, watch some movies with a big movie screen bought by the association that make special mvie programmes every month.
Patio de Salema 2
Favorite thing: This is the other side of Patio de Salema. You can see that house that is exactly in front of Saint Peter's Palace. There's used to live some governors long time ago in this area. The Palace (not on the picture, its after that arch)is now taken by the city hall department of youth and sport). This is a passage way to go from the Portas de Moura district to the BAR UE, the university bar, always with music and full of drunk people inside during university breaks and classes. Everynight is night to go out in Evora. Due to its smallness, Evora lacks of places to go out at night. I mean theres plenty if you're comming has a visitor, but now imagine a student passing 4, 5 years here and the variety is not much, that may consist a problem. Another thing is that many people come from portugeuse NOrth and South countryside, away from the parents (everywere in the world is like this I bet), and they get here full of parties, concerts and nightlife and they just get lost and go parting all night long forgetting the main reason of comming to the town: classes. Evora is on the top ranking of portuguese universities for paring and drinking, missing classes and money spent for student parties and concerts and activity.
Patio de Salema 3
Favorite thing: Another old building not being used by anything at all. This one is on the some place as the Cafetaria Salema shown to you on the restaurant tips. I always love when the sky has this special colour against the white, cracked buildings of Evora. I like and I actually search for colour on my pictures and the contrasts that you can get in these kind of buildings is just wonderful indeed.
Fondest memory: I remember maybe 3 years ago to break in this Patio de Salema a window of the SOIR Joaquim Antonio de Aguiar with an arrow. The Youth POrtuguese Institute was promoting sport among the youngs and one of the things put on the street to try was bow and arrows with the obvious needed protection with a net. Well... heheh I don't know what happen but I just saw my arrow hiting the top of the net gaining more speed go up a stairs and crash into the window of the building. the arrow is gone now but the windows has still a whole. sorry abou that.
Moeda Street 1
Favorite thing: In the old jewish district of the town.
This street has at leat 2 restaurants, pizza take away, handicraft shop from India and Morocco.
This street goes all the way up to the main square Praça do Giraldo.
Favorite thing: Another wider view of the street.
You can see the Giraldo's Main Square ahead.
I already lived on the number 47 of this street.
Favorite thing: well... I'm apolitical by the way, but its a nice place to pass through and listen to activist music from the 70's. This is located down the D'Avis Street.
Coin Street pigeons
