Favorite thing: This street belongs to the area of the old jewish quarter in Évora near the main square. Goes all the wa up from the Hotel of Cartuxa to the Main square. If you're comming for the first time to town and by car you should try to go up this street in the first place. You'll love the experience of entering the wonderful square of Giraldo.
In Evora there are so many old building not being used. It's encredible how badly this city is being used in term of real estate procedures. Like for instenses: students are being riped off all the time while renting rooms to people that don't pass recipt and for this escape finalcial and legal bills while by law they couldn't rent for a certain percentage of they actual bill also. So you have people that have a house for already 60 years paying rent that hasn't been actulized for another 50 and they pay 5 euros for a big house (price from 50 years ago), and they ask for students for 150 euros for a room. What should happen is that the city hall should make a search to all the people that are not using the law decently in order to make rents to lower. Like I was saying there are hundreds of old empty houses inseide castle walls that could be reconstructed by the government and give shelter to students for a more decent preice. Even 150 or 200 euros for a room ok, no problem but with decent conditions, nice plumbing, good painting, full kitchen etc...
Fondest memory: This windows is near Patio de Salema on our way to the Palace of S. Pedro. This window belongs to a very big house owned by an old recreative association called JOaquim Antonio de Aguiar. During evenings, they pass nice choosen movies for people to see for an affordable preice. like 1.5 euros for entries.
