While visiting King Manuel's palace you may be confused by some nice ruins, close to a "modern" building. Well, the palace (or what remains of it) is the "modern" building, restored in 1943-47.
The ruins are a fake, conceive by Architect José Cinatti to decorate the garden in the 19th century.
