Evora - Portugal

One of Evora's highlights (Bones chapel, in S Francisco's church) is not suitable impressionable people.

All the wall are made of bones, with thousand of piled skulls. The reason to build it was respectable, the general look is harmonious, but the details...

be careful, when taking pics in the cloisters

Be careful, when taking pics on the flat roof of the cloisters of the cathedral, a step back and you might fall into this medieval trap, a narrow spiral staircase that has no fence at all and nothing to hold on, when walking down. The upper part of the stair is lighted by the daylight and the exit below gets some light from the cloisters, but several steps in between dont get any light at all and you have to step down like a blind.
There is also absolutely no other way than a one-way-trafic, but the right direction of each of the 2 stairs is nowhere indicated !

Watch out for this guys. They love to poo all over your hair, jacket, t.shirt, face, whatever... Pingeons however make the city look even more lovely and give a nice contrast when they fly between narrow streets and in the main square. Usualy children find them funny to play with.
The fountain on the main square is the favorite place of this little guys when Evoras extreme hot comes in the summer (can go up tp 48 degrees celcius). Very nice to watch them bathing on the fountain.

They look so lovely... but remember they poo all over your face!!! Its a normal scenery in Evora of people cleaning their clotheson the main square with a little paper tissue. Thank God elephants don't fly.

Money Transportation in Giraldo Square 1

ok, now I know this looks like in a movie. but every now and then the National Portuguese bank here in Evora needs to fill in with cash. So here's all the action you can actually see on the street in Giraldo's square. These Police men are special forces from The National Portuguese Guard GNR.
You can see the big money truck after the Nissa 4x4, and the guns with the police.
Don't ass these guys running then... hehehe

ok I know it's wonderful, beautiful and scary. Adrenaline all the way, but be sure to have in mind that this place is usualy frequented by people that go there to do witchcraft and some other kind of magick cerimonies. Some dead chickens and other animals are usualy left in place after night cerimonies.
Some other people by other hand go there to camp and they don't see nothing. Go not alone.
It's a good place to see the starts and see Évora's lighting.
